Games have always been about faking stuff for performance. Remember when Doom was faking 3d? What matters is whether it works well, and we won't know that until a decent number of people get their hands on this hardware or even see it ourselves.
I'm still curious how Nvidia convinced so many people that faking lighting is bad but faking entire frames is good.

MAke up for 3090 being x2 the price but only 15% over the 3080.

Will wait for some true raster scores for 'actual' performance difference between 4000 series.
But again that was a halo product for people who were happy to spend the extra for a small performance increase to say they had the very best but now we're at a stage where spending £1300 doesn't even get you close to the best and isn't even much of an upgrade for those who spent £650 previously.

That’s insane.
I’m buggered if I’m going to upgrade my RM1000X to a higher one.
And I already feel dry buggered by the price.
Any chance of knowing what card that was?

At a guess, I'd say it was the Palit Gamerock cards.

Why 1200w, are the cards running 600w bios at stock?

From what I understand of 4090s is they will come with at least 2 vbios a stock setting and the OC setting and some may have more settings. With the max being 600watts+/- 50w. We will see in a few days the deal with these cards, but I bet you nvidia gave us the results with the OC BIOS and the stock 450w VBIOS (aka the one not to blow up current psus) wasn't used at the time. We just have to wait and see what shenanigans nvidia pulled with their data they gave us.

What is shocking me is the size of the cards, with the technology we have you would think that GPU's would be getting smaller not bigger.

Next thing we will need to do is build a pc case out of Cement or weld metal brackets that can hold 10kg
