NVIDIA 4000 Series

is that it. several hundred?

thats nothing, like a drop of water evaporating in a thousand degrees.

The UK's Enthusiasts, the PC master race or the rich people, will descend upon OCUK tomorrow, in person and online.

Also many international customers too, dont forget the businesses.

We are talking thousands, if not tens of thousands

And all they have is a few hundred?

This is an outrage, have we not learnt from the disastrous 30 series.

or am I just getting excited, nope.

Of course they are. Anyone who can afford to blow a grand or more on a GPU isn't likely to be affected very much by the current financial squeeze. It's like saying sales of Ferraris will be affected.
I'm betting a fair proportion of buyers live with their parents and use PayPal credit. You won't buy many Ferraris like that ;) It was true back in the days before easy credit, now any idiot can blow a grand on a GPU. Doesn't mean they can afford it, just bad judgement and can't sustain it generation after generation.

Certainly feels that way, seems like every post is just ******** on AMD :p

Yup the cpu forum is virtually bukkaked with his pro intel anti amd pish. I can never understand the mindset of having a little chubby for a corperate entity who only exist to take money off you.

Think nvidia made a huge mistake with only putting display port 1.4 on the 3090. Thus the max frame rate it can output (with DSC) is 4k 144 Hz.
I hear AMD have display port 2,0 with rdna 3 so will wait 4 that.
Or they know exactly what they're doing and when these displays come out you'll have to buy a 4090ti or a 5000 series to take advantage of them

My Reverb is 4320 x 2160 combined resolution @90FPS.

The LTT video also talks about it, and it sounds like DP 1.4 is only good for 4k 120 and can do more with chroma subsampling. (Compression?)

Yes it will support more than that , as I've said I've had an LG 4K Monitor that was 4K 165Hz ( oc ) and worked perfect with 1.4a also you can buy a 4K 240hz monitor ( Samsung Neo G8 ) uses display port 1.4 or hdmi 2.1 . If bandwidth starts becoming an issue with display port 1.4 @ 25gbs then Hdmi 2.1 offers 48 gbps. The connectors are not an issue for the minute and any monitor that is 2.0 will be backward compatible with 1.4.

The Pound is flailing tonight (down to 1.09 against the dollar) after Tories statement on the budget to the commons today and the Bank of England saying they won't intervene further in the gilt market so expect prices of these cards to get jacked up tomorrow

So 4090 performance is a large uplift over last gen, but sadly this doesn't bode well for 4080 at all.

Unlike the 3080 compared to the 3090, where we saw little increase in performance for nearly double the price. The 4090 will actually provide massive leap of performance over the 4080-16. Based on specs alone, the 4080-16 is likely to offer little increase in performance over the 3090ti, and for more money. Unless Nvidia rethink pricing before launch, their basically saying you might as well spend the full whack to get the real performance of ADA. Nvidia clearly want to shift 30 series before becoming competitive again.

If AMD play it smart, and have something decent to offer. They can definitely take a huge market share from Nvidia.

Well they have to save space for the 4080ti 12gb and the 4080ti 16gb

At this point i'm quite happy to sit here and watch the world burn.

Bring back Boris, all is forgiven.
