NVIDIA 4000 Series

That's exactly what will happen again, the 2080ti owners that sold their cards for £500 learned a valuable lesson then, a few weeks later they were selling for more than MSRP or at the MSRP depending on the model. It's all the fear mongering that goes on causing people to panic sell, even CEX has gone down that route today with 3090FE's with 2 year warranty for £900. They just want to reduce their stock once they get to the magic numbers of 5 in stock they go right back up with them too. If you check low stock cards they are higher than msrp in most cases there. They just have too much stock and trying to catch the panic sellers too at the cheap buy prices they have now too. They are basically manipulating the second hand market.

It's basically a buyers marker right now as before it was a sellers market, so a good time to catch a bargain while they are about.

This time it will be different as a crypto miner who recently sold 6 gpus off in Feb (just in the nick of time to get all my outlay back). Crypto mining is dead at the moment and won’t be coming back for at least 2 years. Ethereum POS in August and Sky high electricity in the UK have finished it off.

There will be ample supply as by now any gamer would have got a gpu.

The demand isn’t there.

Quite happy to see AMD and Nvidia squirm when they can’t sell their inventory come Nov.

Same opinion here we had the perfect storm last time , peak covid, mining boom , more people at home doesn't look like that will be happening on release of the new cards

As you said more people have cards now look at the auction site cards selling below MSRP now you can tell it's a miner when single account has multiple cards for sale

Only thing they could try is artificially holding back stock when new gen is released

Hopefully by the release of next gen Intel will also be selling gpus and providing more stock and competition. According to the steam survey there is a significant number of people gaming on a laptop 3060. So even if Intel only manage to capture a percentage of the gaming laptop market from Nvidia rather than desktop it still means that Nvidia will have gpu that instead of going to laptops are available for desktop.

Wouldn't it be nice if the MSRP of the 3000 series (Which we all thought was quite reasonable at the time scarily) is what the 4000 launches and holds at, that sure would be something

Yes and no. It’d be even nicer if the 4080Ti, 4090 and inevitable 4090Ti were less than last time around TBH.

They’ve had their pound of flesh hopefully!

Wait for the shocking prices and power use. Nvidia and AMD are no charity as we saw this gen for gpus and cpus. Wait for the fun at the end of the year, with again scalpers, no stock and limited stock by Nvidia and AMD to make sure prices go threw the roof.

It's not sock it's the scalpers that will ruin the 4000 series.

Hmm I wonder if I can get away with using an 850w Seasonic Gold PSU for an RTX4090 or 7900XT. Would be a pain if I have to upgrade my PSU too

the way its going you will soon need an 850w PSU just for the GPU :D
Good god no... or maybe Nvidia GPU's will have a PSU built into them and take 6 slots. :D
4090 deffo 1000watt 850watt with a 3090ti I would say is pushing it as I'm looking to buy a 3090ti.
Hmm I'm not sure maybe it would be fine if you undervolt the GPU (which you should anyway always do imo). Lets see, I will buy a new PSU if I have to. :)
