NVIDIA 4000 Series

its a thread for people to chime in and say they own the card, the actual discussion of the 4000 series is all in here where the non owners keep coming in whining about melting and pretending it's some huge deal.

it's getting old fast

Yea and there's a whole other thread dedicated to that issue

I'm guessing everyone who owns a card barely gives it a second thought
Wow this is some head-scratching level of gatekeeping you are engaging in. I think the majority of 4090 owners are concerned about the issue, especially as it now not only seems to be affecting the adapters, but also the actual connector on the GPU and also native PSU cables https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/ymq9x5/native_atx_30_connector_meltedburnt_msi_mpg_a1000g/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/yml9yc/cable_burn_on_power_supply_side_msi_mag_a1000g/.

If you are not concerned thats fine, but don't act surprised that many others are, because it is without doubt an objectively concerning topic for any existing or potential owner.

They don’t half do a lot of assuming for other peoples concern about melting cable, not sue who made them spokes person.
They have no idea how many connectors have melted. It may not be a wide spread issue, but it IS an issue if some people’s cable are melting.

This thread is a mess, Can we keep it on the actual topic of the GPU in question, It's hard to catch up with the cable debacle.

I do feel it's a concern for owners that have shelled out so much money for a product to be worried about theirs melting including myself, It's a bit anxious enough as it is without reading tons of dribble on the product or the issue.

Yes I must admit I was and am a little anxious of mine melting hence why I ordered the Cablemod cable that still hasn't shipped (Yawn yes seriously how many people do Cablemod have working for them to take this long to ship 1 freaking cable out!?)

Albeit now I am not so much bothered as if it was going to happen it would have happened already, Been gaming on it since release and nothing has happened and if Cablemod don't ship the cable this next week that will be cancelled as well!

But it's bad enough trying to sift through almost 1k pages with half of it being dribble sorry.

Strange, listed my 4090 FE on ebay for below everyone else on there to see if I could get a sale before return window as I have a £1 selling fee offer, but other sellers cards are still actively selling above what I've listed for  I do not understand.

The value is dropping fast… buy it now prices will be in the £1.8k range soon.
I thought that would happen but still floating around 2k still. Got to at some point surely but I guess some people will still pay that extra for the ray tracing and DLSS that AMD cant match
4090 strix sold today for 2,339.14

Which to me seems mental

Nah… there’s a bunch of FE’s with buy it now prices in the £1.9k range and not selling out quickly, so some sellers will take the £1.8k range soon.

Just thought I would give my observations after 3 weeks (is it? I got it release weekend).

PC 1 - 9900K - used for games and work. Used to have my 3090 in it which I was happy with, however it was a Zotac not an FE. I run the 48CX on this and it has made a 50-100% increase in frames at 4k with everything ultra. I can essentially play most things at 100FPS plus with RT and no DLSS. If I was just a punter I may not have noticed the difference but I've run the benchmarks and performance overlays to prove the increase. The things that are most impressive is 1) Power draw is the same as the 3090 (about 340W) 2) Temperatures are great for an air cooler, i.e. 60c at sustained load - it is a big case though.
PC 2- 8700K - used on a 65" TV with a wheel for the occasional driving game. It used to have a 3070 but has now inherited the 3090. It plays all the games I tried (ACC, Grid etc) at 4K and sit on 60FPS consistently (the TV is only 4k60). With this 60FPS limitation some of the older games mean it's running low, sometimes only 100W or so. The 3090 is still a brilliant card.

Was it worth it? Depends what you define "worth" but as a GPU enthusiast - definitely. I paid £1400 for the 3090 (during the late 2020 drought) so the extra £300 for top tier next gen seems about right with inflation at 10% and the pound down. I say it seems about right - for context I mean vs the 3090. This is the kind of money it cost me to SLI Maxwell Titans!

What would I do now if I was on a budget? I's probably look for decently discounted new 68/6900XT tbh.
