NVIDIA 4000 Series

Yeah because they wanted an Asus , EVGA or Aorus, if they went for a Zotac they would have got one withing 6 weeks like I did.
Yeah it was basically across those sku's that were seriously backed up, the strix and tuf cards were some of the worst back logs from memory and evga was just concentrating on US demand so we didn't see any here in the UK for months if not longer.

Yeah evga didnt give a damm about europe, US only. Even had a great queing system to get a card, again US only.
Glad they've left the GPU business given how badly they treated us.

Sadly Nvidia is playing the long game and investors are now resigned to the fact that sales will be low this quarter.

What Nvidia is waiting for is for all RTX3000 stock to dry up because at that point if you want a high end GPU you have to buy a 4080/4090 at inflated prices or go AMD. Only AMD can prevent what happens next year when RTx3000 supply is gone.

So you will not see Nvidia drop prices, no matter how many 4080's are on the shelves, they are going to hold their poker face and wait to see how gamers respond to having no RTx3000 alternatives to buy. If gamers respond by buying AMD then Nvidia will have to drop price, otherwise they won't.

So if you guys want to see the 4080 price come down, buy all the 7900XTX and 7900XT stock that's available and keep buying it, only that will force Nvidia to lower prices. Buying older Nvidia cards will NOT make Nvidia lower its RTX4000 prices

Seems to me you either go big and go 4090, or you wait to see how the 7900XTX reviews. Pretty much everything else isn't worth bothering with right now. After installing my 4090 I moved my 3090 to my second PC and popped its 2080ti on Gumtree for £250. 1 hour later it was gone. That £250 covered the £200 premium I paid a scumbag and my Cablemod 12vhpwr so pretty happy.

As much as I can just afford any 4090 right now, I can't justify spending my hard-earned money on ANY of AIB range, they are just a total eyesore and way too oversized for no thermal or performance reason. The more I look at the TUF 4090, The more I hate it. And don't get me started on those gaudy Palit models.

I'm royally screwed unless Nvidia restock the FE cards. or maybe a partner can come up with something close to the Founders.
The 7900XTX is closer to the 4090 FE then any AIB's.

I imagine Nvidia aren't happy at the very public disaster the 4080 release is. Cards have largely sat on shelves from the launch and it seems that trend will continue. No amount of we sold 1000 cards a day but have replenished another 1000 will wash. Under any normal launch, the top end value sku (one down from the halo sku) would be snapped up and be out of stock for weeks if not longer. That's going back years with the possible exception of the 2000 series which is why the 3000 series happened.

At least with their own store they can control the appearance of scarcity by restricting stock. Retail channels it is all laid bare. I'm sure Nvidia are counting down the days until they limit AIB releases and just handle everything from cradle to the grave. Etailers will be hurt because some people buy complete or near complete systems in component form for the sake of getting everything from one retailer. If a gpu is coming from else where there is less incentive to do so and average order value will drop.

The shame of it is the 4080 is a stellar card, easily worthy of being a 3080 successor. it's just £500 / $500 overpriced.

NV's wet dream, auctioning off GPU's. Which is basically what they're already doing on their own site with FE cards. I can't see AMD going this route though, which will be good for AMD buyers, not so good for those who always buy Green.

Nvidia still seem to think that people will pay out the ass for cards like a lot of people were doing during the mining boom. 4090 might be selling ok but the 4080 is being treated as the red headed stepchild. Probably due to price and the fast one they tried to pull with 2 versions of the "same card" with one being a notable downgrade.

I agree to a degree but AMD are no better, they are just behind the curve in terms of where Nvidia is at. I'm sure if AMD were in Nvidia shoes they'd be making the same moves. They just can't get away with much in the gpu space at this stage but if they were to dominant i'm sure they'd be leveraging their position too.
