NVIDIA 4000 Series

Hello. I have a 4080 but cyberpunk doesnt show dlss 3 options? Should it just be there?

Are you on win10?

Seen this:

Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling must be activated in Windows to use DLSS Frame Generation. In Windows 11, this option is turned on by default. To enable this feature in Windows 10, press the Windows key on your keyboard, type Graphics settings and press enter. This opens the Graphics settings menu. Here you can enable Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling. A restart is required to activate the feature.

I'm hoping to pick up either a 4090 for £1200 or a 4080 for £700 by the middle of next year when nvidia realises they need to actually sell some Gpus.

Creeping up the budget there but you have some stashed away from the last gen no doubt. Realistically though I doubt Jensen will drop them much lower so hope the market moves somewhat next year.

Which corner? Just seen drops of 4090FE right now in Spain, France and Italy. Germany dropped some earlier today.

I bet UK will drop later this week during which I have a really busy 5 days and won’t be able to keep an eye on the phone…

More often than not the UK is next day for the FE drops.

Same here. Depends entirely on how games run between now and then though. 4080 could be a good buy at £700 and maybe even £800 (people who think £650 can happen again clearly haven't witnessed the inflation and cost of "everything" going up....) but I'm not quite convinced it is a really worthy upgrade over a 3080, 4090 is kind of performance uplift I would be wanting to see especially in RT scenarios. I'm still fully expecting a 4080ti to come in within 10% of a 4090 but for a good couple hundred less....

Ireland. They used to sell here directly (in fact their distribution was based here), but since getting the Bolton shop to act as middlemen we can't buy them here. Ironically we can get AMD reference cards here.

I noticed this also when I first installed my 4090, there was no dlss 3 option, and after a little digging I found the patch hasn't even been released yet to the general public, for whatever reason? I guess it's just a case of keeping your eyes open for the next patch and hoping dlss 3.0 is included.

I could afford 10 of them. I'm simply not paying £1200 for what was a £500 card 2 years ago. Nvidia made the 4000 series all about the price by sticking a stupid price on the 4080 while sticking a 4070 class chip inside it. I don't want to is not the same as I can't.
The fact that 4080's are sitting in shelves despite Nvidia making massively less of them compare to 4090's goes to show just how massively both you and they have misread the room.

Apologies - that wasn't directed at you specifically but I did start off answering you and then when on - but not at you directly.

Though people are complaining when they aren't on the shelves and then when they are. If they made them so cheap then folk will be jumping up and down they cant get one. Nvidia or more the middle men will be shipping stock where they are selling and get most for them. CAnt see OCUK ordering that many themselves.

What about the 3090 100% extra cost for 15% performance over 3080. These tactics aren't new.

Guess you aren't using any gas & leccy at the moment as that is 4x what it was 2 years ago. Not paying that?

Couple in the local shop buying booze n fegs on the weekend - moaning the house was cold coz they couldnt afford it. I thought they needed a 4090 - fun & heating. :D

Received my Cablemod cable today.

Just a heads up: I added a metal shroud to the config, which won't allow installation on an EK FE block. Had to remove the shroud to allow the connector to fit. Its literally 1mm too wide.

Hopefully I will get to use it when the 90/180 degree adaptors are released.
Ahh what, no way, I got the metal shroud too and its due for delivery tomorrow...

Tbh I wouldn't really want to pay anymore than £600 for a 4080 given its using a 70 class chip but I'd probably go to £700 as it looks unlikely that whatever AMD comes in with at £600-700 is going to be much of an upgrade over my 3080 now that the 7800XT has been bumped to a 7900XT.

So I plan to hold out for either a 7900XT or 4080 for £700 a 7900XT for £900 or 4090 for £1200 and I'm fully prepared to wait 2 years if nvidia and AMD don't meet my expectations.

Correct, I'm not paying 4x for gas or leccy, we have a house in Asia so we've moved back here, my leccy is 9p/kWh and we have no gas as we don't need heating as the coldest it gets is 20C at night in January.

I don't have a problem with xx90/titan pricing as the halo tier card has been silly expensive like 8800Ultra was just a factory OC GTX for $200 extra. But going from £650 to £1200 on the xx80 part is unprecedented and stupid. And that's coming from someone who had 2x580 3GB, original Titan, 1080ti, 2080ti, 3080.

I'm left without an upgrade path this generation because I don't want to pay £1400 for the same size chip as was in the xx70 last gen, and a 4090 would be wasted on my 1440p / VR / 12700k.

I'm not whingeing about it, just making the comment, and an opinion most people seem to share as 4080's are sitting on shelves in most countries despite there being manufactured an order of magnitude less than the 4090.

No one has the right to dictate what others spend -- that goes without argument. But there does come a point when, even if you have the cash to throw around without a care, you realize when prices have been raised far past any precedent in the industry's history, when they have been pushed higher than regular market dynamics support by a duopoly with capital reserves galore who are striving to drag the market along, and when those same players are trying to adjust the narrative... Then it's time to say enough's enough. This is not good for gaming, and it's not good for the GPU industry.

I agree totally I just don't like it when people try to dictate how others spend their money is all. My social circle tried to do that and I told them to swivel :D

Hey, I was told that my Yak turd was unique!
:(

Well it's unique to the day the Yak squeezed it out :D

Cyberpunk hasn't been updated with DLSS3 just yet, Only reviewers and hardware peeps got the beta release for it, We'll likely get it next June when the expansion comes out.

How long would you need to go out with someone before you were willing to give them a GPU worth £500
My previous partner used to game with me sometimes on her laptop at like 22fps.

I bought her a budget gaming pc after about 2 years, but it was mainly so I could game when I was staying at hers :p

I always felt like I should have been dating her sister instead, she had a gaming laptop but was less visually pleasing.

she was mental though like vegan and wouldn't play games where you had to kill people, she played skyrim as like some pacifist explorer then stopped when a quest requited her to kill people
