NVIDIA 4000 Series

The 4080 12gb was a red herring product as it was so obviously bad it got the headlines but it's real job was to take the spotlight off from the equally poor but even higher margin 4080 16gb.

Not so sure. If it was, then why did they used the same trick with the 3060? They seem to have gotten away with that one. I'm sure lots of unsuspecting people will buy it.

And want to know what I find even funnier, that people turn a blind eye to amd doing exactly the same with the 7900xt :D  "amd good, nvidia bad"! :p

Lets just hope Jenson drops price somewhat of the 4080 and gives us a 80ti next year for the current price of the 4080, ultimately will mean amd will have to drop their prices as well so good for everyone.
He'll only go so far, gotta remember his words "MLID".

Which screw holes did you strip to be able to mount the fan back?
It was the literally the first lot after taking off the magnetic cover. Got 2 of 4 off fine no issues but last two were in very tight and just stripped with the slightest amount of pressure. Never got it out of the card. Only ever managed to get two screws out

It didn't really work though (at least in tech circles) because just about every review I've seen about the 4080 16GB still said it was overpriced.... it's not about the performance, nobody has said it's 'slow', it's that the price for an '80' card is too high.

I get the impression that enthusiasts give the halo product a pass when they lack value, but not for the whole damn product line.

In my view, the $700 3080 is the value benchmark that Ada needs to improve upon. the 3080 12gb and 3080Ti were priced for a crypro-mining boom market. This is a different market now.

Generationally, $700 spent on an Ada GPU should net us 25-30% uplift over the 3080 to be "good".

Interesting that there doesn’t seem to be anymore hysteria around the adaptor cables anymore. The media seems to have died down around this now.
yeah weird how it just vanished, on the same note i recently got a 4090 fe and my adapter made a nice audible click when connected so manybe nvidia had some changes made that has caused fewer issues

I gave extra special attention to mine. It never clicked and I pushed it hard enough to see it flex. There's no gap and I gently tried to pull it out and it wouldn't budge, so it's fully seated and locked. It's just too bad it doesn't give any sort of audible or tactile feedback that I expect from every other connector in a PC build.

When I used the octopus connector my little red light used to stay on all the time, now I've got a corsair connector it's never on, what's that all about?

Their 4090 is built like a tank, The gem underside design may not be for everyone, Although in a normal horizontal position you'll never see it and it gives nice underglow, But the card overall is damn good.
Yes, the aesthetics always put people off. I didn't mind the blue and white colour scheme of my GTX 1080 but people said it reminded them of ice cream and was ugly.

That's because Gamers Nexus proved that it was happening because people hadn't plugged them in fully and they gave people tips on how to make sure that it's done correctly.
