NVIDIA 4000 Series

I sold it for £500 - RT, DLSS and FG are favourable if I am honest and whilst I know the value of either of the cards isn't great I'm hoping it will take me to the 6 possibly 7 series cards.
For me personally if I was going to upgrade my 3080 then the 4070ti simply isn't enough while the 4080 offers +50% performance for £1200 but if im going to spend that much then I might aswell go all in and add another £400 for the 4090 and get double the uplift and an extra generation of longevity.

True, I am expecting a lot of DLSS3 to be honest and watching some vids at 1440p the Ti seems a very good card just horribly overpriced.

I am also unsure if I'll squeeze a 4080 in my case due to the AIO being front mounted, I am going to have to measure up.

Yeah, from a 3080 'neither' is the only reasonable choice. 4080 doesn't offer £1199 worth of improvement & 4070ti doesn't offer £799 worth of improvement.
Coming from lower cards, the 4080 costs + 50% over the 4070ti, but only offers + 20-25% performance. So the 4070ti is significantly better value.
But it's very important imo to buy the cheapest card of each tier. Get the £799 4070ti or nothing. And a £1199 4080 or nothing.

Pretty bad Maths given the cost to upgrade isn't £799, £1199 etc.

It only needs to have £299 and £699 of improvement.

Sure, you discount the price of selling your previous card. But nevertheless, from a 3080- level, the value isn't fantastic. How much you think you'll get selling a 3080 when compred to an £1199 4080 ? Maybe you get £500? Leaving you to pay £700. Now the 4080 is faster, a lot faster. But £700 faster ? Not for me.

That’s assuming he got his 3080 for free.

Technically I got the 3080 by selling my 3070Ti which I got for MSRP. Had a pretty decent couple of years making back more than what I paid on GPU's.

Having watched a couple of videos it seems that the 4080 really shines at 4k and the 4070Ti isn't leagues behind in 1440p so I am leaning towards that.

Arguments about it only being this much % ahead of my 3080 are pointless as the card is sold, gone. Not to mention the generational "leap" in FG and DLSS3 which I am expecting big things of.

So as of this morning I am leaning towards the ti but may change again throughout the course of day!

It might not be good value still, but its a completely different value proposition.

Otherwise even if the 4080 was £799, you'd be saying is, +£799 worth +50%.

The coolers are excellent outside of a defect in manufacturing. My 7900XT MBA was superb. The actual MBA cooler is great, so was it on the 6800/900/950.

The MBA 6900 was one of the quietest cards ever. LONG gone of the blower reference cards.

I think these days if you've got a card that runs hot or loud or both, you've either got bad card or, a card that's very poorly designed. Hot and noisy GPU's have been a thing of the past for quite some time IMO.

But we are talking about an upgrade. Not starting from zero.

Otherwise saying +20% performance is wrong. You should be dividing by zero.
Even at £300 your still paying £15 for each additional percentage point of extra performance, £14 for each percent on a 4080 and £11 on a 4090.

My 3080 FE ran very hot and loud - probably the worst offender of recent cards I have had. Was also the smallest cooler by quite a margin so I can't really hate on the design. All cards I have owned have been fairly noisy under load.

I don't mind the design of these new massive cards as allows for a slower fan RPM but obviously an issue in a small case :)

I went 3080 to a 4080. Don’t regret it for a second.
