I've been playing Elden Ring, thought the draw distance and textures left a bit to be desired. Turns out I've just got old people eyeballs. That's one way of getting better Image quality.
Interesting! Found 2022 Week 3 GPU sales numbers from same source to compare. What in the list should they have bought instead?

2022WK3:
Surprised more and more people bought more expensive GPUs in 2023 Week 3 with 3940 GPUs sales total than 1920 GPUs total in 2022 Week 3. Hmmmm look like mining not dead after all or something else drove people to buy more expensive GPUs than a year ago.
Best value product? Jesus christ, your head really is in the clouds...So nvidia cut the price slightly, rename it and suddenly its good value? Its a **** take of a card at best. It also got universally **** on in reviews, but hey ho its the "best value" apparently.
I've been playing Elden Ring
Every review I've seen has called it an excellent card just poorly priced.
Price is the main point of contention in a lot of reviews, this gen of cards are stupidly priced. Though it doesn't help matters when nvidia label this a 4080, then the actual 4080 is compared and you see the performance difference between them. That soured peoples opinion big time knowing the fast one nvidia were trying to pull.
Then.. released the 3060 8Gb.
Wasn't that the one with the slightly faster ram? I give up on gpu's this gen, both camps are extracting the urine.
I don't think it will improve, intact I think it will get worse.

No, it was gimped from what I could tell but same price. This is why muppets saying transistor count is the best way to indicate how good a card is fails.
And the performance this gen is down on all but the 4090 compared to last gen despite the jump from samsung 8nm > TSMC N4 being much larger than TSMC 12nm > samsung 8nm and this is due to the smaller cut down dies being used. The die size is exactly the same, it is still a GA106 die.
Most sensible people would say, things like die size, transistors are irrelevant. So trying to base tiers and prices off that is pointless. Performance is all that matters.

2080 > 3080 = +70%
3080 > 4080 = +50%
2070 super > 3070ti = +50%
3070 ti > 4070ti = 43%
So not only are Nvidia charging more for these cards but they are giving customers less of a performance uplift than last gen.
Most sensible people will say, consumers are again getting shafted. The unlaunched version of the 4080 was confusing, yet here they are once again messing about. Its something you should not be defending.
