Honestly this generation is even worse than the Turing 20 series for real world performance uplift. But he wants to charge more and more for less.. what a joke really the whole industry has become..

I do like that card and the Strix because of the extra HDMI port. Even the Strix is marked up significantly though

I always skip if I can, then I feel I get some good bang for my buck, even if I fall on a “bad” generation.

Yes, it is quite disappointing but if you need a card and the other choices are a 4090 second hand for £1300-1400 or a second hand 4080 super for £700-800 a 5080 for £1000 is the better deal.

Some of those benchmarks like Elden ring must be game engine/Driver issues because you can see by the specs there is no reason for the 5080 to perform any worse than a 4080 ever, and even the 5090 isn’t performing in that game.

If you can't get Fe 5080 I doubt you'll be getting 5080 for £1000

Honestly I'm more ****** off with myself for holding off and waiting a 7900xtx for under 700 would have been the best option virtually 5080 performance.

The generation has only been released as a way for Nvidia to maintain prices. It also makes sense why the matched the 4080S price, can't launch at 4080 prices if it only performs on the same level as the previous gen.

When I last got an FE (3080) they had quite a number of “drops” over a few months before they stopped

3000 series there was a drop every approx. 5-10 days of varying quantities and models, can't say for sure this time depends on stock availability.

That 5080 is gonna die on shelfs harder than the 4080. Expect price drops to 900 or even 800 within weeks, not months. Even OG MSRP of an xx80 class at 700 is a tough sell. 4000 series flipping all the price/perf value to the high end of stack has nuked the market completely. My plan to go 4090 and jump every 2nd gen seems to be looking good. I think the days of xx80 being 85-90% of Titan/XX90 at half the price are dead and buried.
