NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Crazy how we don't have prices yet. The jack up tomorrow is going to be incredible lol, these retailers could easily add a few hundred onto the price and still sell out

Unless said customers have had a lobotomy, I can't see how these would sell out, are people really going to buy 5000 series? Blows my mind. This has to be the worst generation of Nvidia cards in history, in every metric, performance, power consumption, price. If people buy them, that is just signalling to Nvidia that they can sell anything.

Honestly I'm more ****** off with myself for holding off and waiting a 7900xtx for under 700 would have been the best option virtually 5080 performance.

The generation has only been released as a way for Nvidia to maintain prices. It also makes sense why the matched the 4080S price, can't launch at 4080 prices if it only performs on the same level as the previous gen.
I was dithering last month afted I'd sold my 4090 to either get a 7900 xtx or step down to a 6950xt. I went with the latter thinking I'd upgrade to the 5080 once out... well that's out the door after those reviews and I'm now waiting for 9070xt.

Utterly disappointing series. And don't forget, street price for 90% of people on these cards will be a few hundred higher than RRpP, so an even harder slap in the face.

Just watch the launch tomorrow they will sell out. Even people with. 4080s will "upgrade" to a 5080 just because it's the new shiny shiny.

They'll be gone in minutes. You also have to think about the scalpers who are out to make a profit on every launch these days.

In America, there are people who will pay folks a decent amount of money to camp outside a store and try to get them one.

Just look at the state of this lmao: https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/com...=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

supply is so limited, of course they will sell out. Let's be real, gaming cards are not the priority for nvidia right now, hence the ridiculous 5090 pricing and neutered cards below it. Couldn't even spare 24gb for the 5080.

The 5080 is meh only because its not much better than a 4080S (compared with 3080 to 4080), but from a 3080 to 5080 its nearly a double of performance.

No it's not, it's about a 60% uplift.

I calculated, if I bought Nvidia shares instead of the 4090 during launch for MSRP, I'd end up with over 15 4090s worth of cash right now lol so that's the real play with a time machine

Maybe 12 or 13 4090s this week :D

Because it's discontinued.....

Which is why I said "used".

So the 5080FE doesn't even get the 5090's cooler but a cut-down version instead? Talk about cheapskates!

At least the 4080 had the same cooler as the 4090.

Cost cutting it seems, cheaped out by removing the vapor chamber and liquid metal and used heatpipes and regular TIM instead.

Woulda been simpler from a manufacturing pov to just produce the same cooler for 2 cards you'd think.

I'm genuinely surprised that even when the product is obviously a massive disappointment, that people will still rush to buy them. Keep your money guys, you deserve better at these prices, vote with your wallets people.

will sell out one way or another either from ones genuinely having FOMO or else scalpers but it will certainly be a sell out regardless, im gonna try and get a 5090 myself even though im not holding out much hope of being able to get one

unless my 3090 goes pop this looks like a very missable generation for me.... maybe i will consider a mid season refresh card but am not holding my breath......... fingers crossed my 3090 has another couple of years in it
I'm on a 3090 and I'm honestly better off just upgrading my cpu and mobo

5090 is understandable, not the 5080. Even so there is only so many people paying 2k + for a gpu. I don't think supply will ever be decent for the 5090 with ai and all that so it will be scalped like crazy.

Looking at it from my situation (3080), the 5080 is a meaningful upgrade, however, it's a generational uplift over the 4070/4070Ti and not the 4080.

The 5080 isn't too badly priced over the 4080 when you take inflation and leather jackets into account, but it's ridiculously overpriced when compared with the 4070/4070Ti.

I'm a little stressed as I was hoping to grab a 5080 - but after seeing the reviews I'm not so sure. My sim(racing) rig has a (10gb) 3080 and I struggle with the triple screens, and sometimes in VR. Ho hum.
I think they'll still sell out.
(Hi btw; long time OC customer and lurker)
