**Nvidia G-Sync owners thread**

New ROG Swift owner here :)

Quick query regarding Gsync though, maybe you can help me here Greg. At 60Hz with Gsync enabled and my fps hitting the refresh limit in for instance, Payday 2, I seem to be getting quite a lot of mouse/input lag. This also happens on Advanced Warfare among a few other games, some more noticeable than others.

Now after much faffing about I've noticed that adding a frame cap just below 60fps in afterburner/rivatuner or similar program completely gets rid of any input lag. A 50fps cap felt infinitely better than leaving it uncapped to hit the 60Hz refresh rate. Is this because Gsync simply doesn't kick in fully if it's running at the desired refresh rate? It felt very vsync like whilst it was running without the cap I have to say although having compared the two, Gsync was better.

I'm obviously a bit of a noob with Gsync, so you might all know this already. If not though, would anyone mind giving it a try and seeing if this reduces input lag for you even further?

Why would you run this monitor at 60mhz ?

Why push for 120 fps when 60 will do? Sure, Payday 2 and CS:GO I'll flick the refresh rate up because they're easy to run, but in more gpu intensive games such as Metro, what benefits is 120Hz giving me over a gsync'd 60 apart from more gpu noise and heat?

You should be aiming for the highest frame rate possible, that's why you bought a 144hz Gsync monitor. Restricting it to 60 had no advantage whatsoever.

So your gaming experience is like that of someone with a mid range gfx card for 800 :p

It's best to use 144hz on all games if they let you or if not use the overclock button on the monitor. With g-sync enabled you just let the frame rates run wild and this will give you the best experience. With a titan x you can push way more than 60fps unless you use heavy amounts of MSAA. Controls and motion blur on any game feel better the higher the fps.

Another massive reason IMO to set to 144hz is that any badly made game that has slight judder on movement like far cry 4 on occasion is that a higher refresh makes the judder much less perceptable. I have tried this many times on awkward scenes and 60hz refresh is a stutter fest and switching to 144hz refresh is much better.

Is anyone having issues switching Gsync off in the Nvidia control panel? I'm using the latest drivers, and when I switch it off I still can't enable ULMB.

On the G-Sync monitor I have ULMB only works at certain refresh rates, 144Hz is not supported, are you running 144Hz? On mine I think 120, 80 and 60 are. It may be different on the Swift, but is worth checking.
