**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

I still don't think even the 1080TI is a real 4k card and pretty sure Vega won't be either and no I don't care how much fps will show in Doom ...
Volta however should bring us 4k at decent speed. That's my expectation anyway.

Ok fair enough but when Star Citizen, Read Dead 2 (or something like it) comes out with an HDR graphical tweak that knocks a Volta GPU down to sub 60fps by that same logic a Volta is not a real 4k card all of a sudden and the 1080Ti owners will accept having to switch it off and plan for the next upgrade post Volta. Its not about right or wrong it is simply the case you can't win either way and there is a high cost to PC gaming at the current edge.

If you have a 4K monitor atm, how long until Volta actually comes out and then when it does how much faster than a 1080Ti will it be and at what price? Then when is a Volta Ti coming etc etc there is no winning formula to these things imho.

I don't know about others but I can tell you what my winning formula is. The moment I can buy a 4k screen which runs at 144 or more hz, decent size ( not sure about HDR yet will have to wait and see if that truly makes anything better ) and I can get a GPU which will run like a champ with all bells on, ultra, that's when I will jump into it. until then I will quite happily stay at 1440p.

There's nothing laughable about the Nvidia marketing wet dream mentality, other than being butt hurt when someone states the obvious :D

Always the same aggressive defensive stance (it's my money I'll spend it how I like) that's fair enough but the brown nosing, blind leading the blind stuff is rank. (You've already bought a 1080) lol.

Year after year Nvidia open a marketing trap, year after year the same plonkers jump in with both feet.

Don't you see the pattern?

I guess it makes much more sense to not buy every year, but every few years buy a really strong GPU which will last you years. That's my strategy anyway and it applies to other tech as well not just GPUs. If others are happy to buy every year, well, let them :)

This must have mentality frenzy drives up the price and keeps it high. Ultimately we all lose out.

How so? It's been the fastest on the market for nearly a year(obviously except the titan). They have no doubt enjoyed using it. If you apply a bit of common sense on the settings then it's perfectly fine.

No card does 4k well enough for me to make the jump from 1440p yet, but that's my opinion, I'm not going to tell others they make bad choices lol.

There are many GPUs that with compromises can display 4k games, the issue with GTX 1080 imho was it not having enough overhead to last at 4K for the price being asked. 1080Ti will be the same as will Vega and Volta but over a much longer period imho e.g. 2-3yrs from now you will have to make compromises. In other words poor value for 4k, take value out of the equation and then yes sure you pays your money and get what the market going rate.

Yeah but it's my money and I'll spend it how I like!

:p:D

It was guaranteed Easy would be getting a 1080Ti the day he sold his 1080.

He's just going through the motions as usual. Saying all the custom cards will be over £700 etc. He will be clicking buy before me I assure you.
Yep. Spot on :)

Oh and I will let you know how I get on with Zelda Breath of the Wild ;)

Well enjoy your 1080Ti's guys. Would love one for a bit of 4K gaming but as predicted they're bloody expensive.

Guess I'll be sticking to my RX480 and PS4 Pro for another year then.

OMG Lighten up...I wont be getting a Ti

I've sold my 1080 and will be getting a 1060 or cheap 980 ti in MM an waiting for winter and see what VEga brings...

Its well documented in these forums mate...

You can have my 980ti for 200 when i get my new 1080ti :p i would order one next week but i am going to italy tomororow for 4 days holiday!

Just got a get out of jail card.

Had a titan xp for a few weeks in the box while I build my new pc and thought the ti would be slower. I have an ek waterblock and Backplate for it and I phoned nvidia to say how annoyed I was that the card was superceded so quickly after I bought it for just over half the price and to be fair to them they were very understanding and told me I could RMA it. It hasn't been used and thankfully they have a 30 day return policy.

I emailed ek about block compatibility but they haven't got back to me so far but I spotted on another site the block is compatible so that's great news.

I didn't have a problem spending extra hard earned money on titan if it stayed top by a wee bit but it's going to be very very hard for recent xp buyers who can't RMA to swallow unless of course they bought it 7 months ago and have had a good use from it.

Personally as annoyed with nvidia as I am I'm also pretty happy so far with their customer service.

Now to preorder a founders card today hopefully.

...which makes a lot of sense, but if you already have a 4K screen (which many do) that advice doesn't hold water. What you really mean is 'if you are a 1440p gamer then don't upgrade to a 1080Ti & or 4k just yet because the same performance isn't there and lower spec GPUs have you covered', which is true but 1080Ti is not for that gamer imho.
