On 1080p/144hz currently and I am getting the 1080ti.

Glad to hear it mate, would be nice to get feedback on how near the 144 mark you manage to get with your Ti

I'm on 1440p/165hz and hoping Battlefield 1 will never drop below 90-100 ever again during hectic 64 player matches, but will have to see

When you see Evga rocking a triple fan design and Strix has turned into a 2.5 slot design... As well as redesign of the FE, you know this chip is going to run hot, or at least everyone is milking as much performance out of the chip

Yep. It will if it is to be running at 2GHz+ OC mode.

It is a big chip (471mm²) with huge boost clocks, so it will need a decent cooler.

Just hoping they and MSI follow Gigabyte's route of directly cooling the Ram on the main heatsink . bugs me that 2 ram chips on NY 1070 strix are naked

Took a while for my friend to get the option to step up from 1070 to 1080 just after launch, then roughly at 40 mark was told there was about 5 week wait . don't doubt you'll be able to get one, but getting a card will take longer I think

Fit a waterblock !!!

AIB coolers are nice but a waterblock is better.

I ran my Titan X MAxwell on the stock cooler and it was decent for keeping the card cool enough but too noisy for my liking.

What do you guys think about me selling my 2 x 980Ti hydrocoppers for a single 1080Ti (would probably wait for a hydrocopper or similar)?

I generally only play VR games these days so the SLI is largely redundant, and I guess with the money from selling the 2 hydrocoppers I probably wouldn't need to add too much extra to buy the 1080Ti.
