Not on its own. There's such a gulf in price currently between the 1070 and 1080 that they can easily drop the price of the 1080 and maintain a reasonable gap between the two cards.

That said, if Vega releases around then, I reckon they're going to gun for the 1070 with the smaller Vega and will attempt to outperform or undercut it(or both). This could necessitate a price cut in and of itself.

A larger Vega could similarly try and do the same to the GTX1080, which would be another reason to suspect a price cut for it is likely.

I still think the 1080 will need to come down to £499 in order to keep selling after a 1080Ti lands.

I just don't see why anyone would pay £600+ for a 1080 when the people who the Ti card is aimed at want the best, and will find the extra money to have it.

980 sales fell off a cliff when the 980Ti landed, and without a big price drop (unlikely) the same will happen to the 1080.

It depends on the pricing of the 1080ti

But the

1070 should be £299
1080 should be £499
1080ti £699

I really hope so, as customers we really need AMD to counter NVIDIA for the prices to drop (for both).

They'll wait until AMD have a release date then they'll release it to trump it they should have quite a collection of Titan chips that failed the binning process by then. Got to steal AMD's thunder afterall.

Why would they release it earlier? They'd only be competing against themselves then.

I hope so but if it is January I have to wait. Would have been nice having the shiny wrapped under the Christmas tree.
 
Going forward I'm gonna get the new arch X70 card and wait it out for the Ti variant and avoid the X80 cards altogether :p

The X70 always comes early and the Ti much later..

So gonna go GTX 1070 > GTX 1080 Ti > GTX 1170 > GTX 1180 Ti.

This way you can avoid the milking on the X80 stopgap cards xD
