**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

I think we are looking at £750-£850.

the 1080 launch was fun to watch but they won't be able to charge more than that else they won't shift enough volume.
 
$649 was the 980ti release price. Pascal 1070 and 1080 prices were $50 more than their 900 series counterparts so i expect the 980Ti will be $699 but with the weakness of the pound compared to when the 900 series released it will likely be FROM around £700 here.

Except the Titan pascal was an extra $150 over the old one so I expect an extra $100 on the ti so in theory should be $750.

So £750 upwards and probably £850 for an asus.
 
Have to agree that the x80 cards are kind of in a no mans land, 1070 is the best perf for the money and close to the 1080. Same as what happened with 970 and 980 mostly.

Plenty of room for the 1080's to drop in price and bring the 1080Ti in and fit in at a highish but not too silly price.
 
Can someone summarise the difference between a 1080 and a 1080 Ti?
Been a long while since I looked at PCs having switched to consoles when the PS3 came out but now looking again. Ta.
 
I'm not a fan of the *80 Ti's personally. Why? Because it usually comes out towards the end of the lifecycle of a generation so closest to the release of the next gen. IMO the Titan's are the ones to get, if you can justify the cost. They're the fastest of the generation and providing there's no refresh, usually one of the first cards of a generation to arrive.

The 1080 came out a year after the 980ti. Hardly the end of a lifecycle and it's performance isn't that far away from a 1080.

THat's true :D. But how long before the 980 Ti arrived did the TX come out? So much earlier in the lifecycle and also slightly better future proofed usually. I think a Ti is a fair way off of the 1080 in terms of both performance (factory clock vs factory clock) and quite importantly in terms of features too. Still the card that's closest to the release of a new gen though and the temptation to ditch when the new tech arrives is so overwhelming for most it makes the Ti a less economical or sensible option than it appears. Think i'd rather stump up the cash for the TX as soon as it appears or buy the 1080 of each gen as soon as it appears - that's probably the best all-round purchase in terms of price, performance and being on the fresh new tech for the longest and then able to jump to the next new gen when the tech you have is aging.

My thoughts anyway :D

The TX was released on the 17th of March and the 980Ti was the 2nd of June so only 2 and a half months after the TX. At max overclocks the gap between the 980Ti and 1080 isn't that great, its one reason why I haven't made the move up to one.

Each to their own but IMO the TI is a good buy, price is allot less than the titan, performance is similar to the titan and isn't far off the next gen 1080 at max overclock.

Had to pass on the 1080 and Titan X P too because I'll want a 1080Ti anyway even if I got the 1080.

The stock Titan cooler noise/performance just puts me off and it's quite insulting to have to fix it after spending £1100. Been there with the Maxwell Titan already. If there were custom models I would have got it. Waiting patiently for those aftermarket 1080Tis.

This has puzzled me about the Titan too, that at the price of £1100, a frankly ludicrous sum, they're still delivered with an underwhelming cooling solution.

It's a noticeable improvement after the previous generation though... at 70% fan speed, more than enough to maintain a decent overclock without throttling... it's quieter than the last generation Titan X at 40% fan speed.

It's still noticeable... especially as I severely dislike headphones... but it's a noticeable improvement.
 
what will happen to the prices of the 1080s when the 1080ti is released?

im thinking to sell my 1080s at least 2 months before the 1080ti release otherwise i'll lose to much money ,

if the 1080 and 1080ti prices are around £50 to £100 difference then everyone will buy a 1080ti and wont bother with the 1080 which will drop in price hugely

Also do you think the 1080ti will release around march/april 2017?
