**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

Completely missed the Nvidia event. What did they announce?

Nothing in truth or at least in GPU terms.

A new shield that does 4K HDR
A cloud gaming system that costs $25 for 20 hours of gaming
A Google microphone thing that spys on you (or summit like that)
More Autonomous cars

I've had mixed feelings about this. But my optimistic side is whispering that this is awesome, that my 980 Ti is great value for money and should be good for at least another 6 months. I'm clinging on to that for now. The itch, though. It's starting to burn.

I think we should start a new thread...

Vaporware 1080 Ti v Vaporware Vega, which is faster?

haha so vega was just more 1080ti hype:D paper launch. now I am real pleased I opted to go titan XP as I can now enjoy it even more.

I feel sorry for anyone who sold there 1080 to get a 1080ti, and also for the AMD crew who expected vega to be released and to be shown in strength hardware wise.

I don't really care who has the fastest card, just buy what is available and enjoy it, red team or green I don't care, hardware gets my money not hype.

Kaap says it all really, vaporware is nothing I can use.

never mind guys, theres always next year! Merry christmas:D

Ahhh nearly forgot Reysen dam some hope yet:D maybe maybe

New Shield? The old one was a flop/had issues and Nvidia would be competing with the Switch which they're already providing chips towards.

$25 for 20 hours of gaming is a bit bull tbh. They expect people to stay up 20 hours in a day to be able make the most of their money? I'd have understood 8 hours or cheaper pricing, but that just takes the micky. Also Onlive/PSNow... both are terrible. Streaming games is terrible. Most people don't even have fibre yet. And that's before talking about how American's get shafted on internet services.

Google Microphone thing sounds par for the course. Though I thought the Kinect already did the spying lol.

And if the autonomous cars have automatically de-icing windows... sign me up! Took me like 10 minutes to get the damn ice off my car to get home. Only afterwards I realised the de-icer spray was under my seat...

Not like you need 1080Ti's though kaap :D.

To be honest didn't expect anything from either. I'd be surprised if we see a 1080Ti. By the time AMD get VEGA out, nvidia might as well bring Volta out. They just have no competition right now.

Will probably give them a good reason to skip the Ti too, as 1080-1180 will be a hefty performance increase for the vast majority of pascal users.

I doubt it works that way - you probably pay $25 (which is pretty steep) for 20 hours that you can use any time over say a month.

I dunno why game streaming services don't just die though - its not a good idea partly due to the infrastructure of the internet being a long way from making that a reality for most people and generally not much interest in it.

:)

To be honest, we all need the 1080 Ti and big Vega ASAP to stir up the GPU market a bit. This will lead to lower prices and faster innovation.

What we don't want is something like the intel domination of the CPU market where the new 7700k is hardly better than the old 6700k.

I hope Nvidia do release the 1080Ti around when AMD release their high end cards.
Mostly because I want a new GPU but the 1080 is just too much of a disappointment for the price given it's the new top end card (excluding the Titan) and on a smaller node than last gen.

I believe they waited for the Fury X before they released the 980Ti didn't they?

Nvidia doesnt have any reason to bring the Ti right now, they have performance with 1080 and enthusiasts with the TitanP, they will keep the Ti out as long as they need it to, to be able to milk as much as possible.
the only reason for nvidia to bring the Ti is if vega performance sits between 1080 and Titanp with better perf/$ ratio, thats what the Ti is for.
the price and performance of the next Ti will be decided by AMD, how funny is that :D

My enthusiasm for the Ti has waned somewhat, it's just more of the same that I already have. I'm now offically looking forward to Vega. sounds like it'll be very interesting (and a good match at 3840x1600 with the HBM2)

So, been at work all day. How much is the new 1080ti and how much faster is it than a Titan?

I would hope much faster since people on here swore blind it was coming out in November so its two months late already?

Am i going to regret buying my Titan months ago?

Going to have to wait a bit longer for a 1080 TI If one ever does appear :p

Keep on enjoying what you have

Well seems JayzTwoCents was right about no 1080Ti , he did say something about it in one of his videos that he didn't believe there would be a 1080Ti this generation.

Ohh well no Ti no purchase for me.. Will wait till next round or wait and see what Vega has to offer, kinda itching to try AMD again but hoping not to get burned again with their drivers that broke my older apps and games in the past. Kinda looking forward to trying out a AMD card with my monitor to see if the image quality is nicer, but if a 1080Ti comes out later it may be not even worth purchasing as the new series will be on their way by then.

Seems it was a bit of a fail day at CES all round really..
