**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

It wasn't the 'Shield K1'. It was the the original Shield Tablet which used the K1 chipset that got recalled. The they fixed the issue and re-released it with a slight redesign and used the model designation of "Shield K1" rather than "Shield Tablet".

That's what I thought as mine never got recalled, it just launched without fast charge disabled(which was the underlying fault iirc, which some have re-enabled through custom roms).

Which has got bugger all to do with the Shield TV anyway which again is a huge underated piece of tech anyway(got a 16gb and pro) and gets the tommy two thumbs up award.

If the Ti lives up to the hype and is priced sensibly, then it might be time to get rid of the 980. Or at least pick up a bargain second 1080 from someone getting a Ti

If the Ti gets released it wont be faster than the Titan as it will have reduced stream processors even if it has a higher clock speed it still wont beat the Titan just like the TXM and 980Ti

It could have more Cuda cores like the 780Ti had over the original Titan and then they had to release a Titan Black.. So that theory goes out of the window till we know if they release one what the specs are on it.

Got mine in later part of 2015 and thought:o the original recalled one with the stylus was just called the Shield Tablet and that the revamp was K1 but you live n learn.

Never saw any sensationalised NV house fire pictures right enough but maybe pottsey can find some coz he just loves anything mobile from Nv.:p
As far as I am aware no picture leaked out but it was in the news and in NV financial reports that they had to pay out for damages caused and pay out on recalls. Even before damages and recalls the shield was running at a very large loss and with sales not being any better its still a flop today. One over rated tablet that didn't sell well. Anyway that's enough on the Shield back to TI talk.

With HDR monitors on the way do we need HDR GPU's? I assume due to the display port on the GPU, older GPUs wont be able to send a HDR signal even if they are technically capable of it in the hardware. I know we need a HDMI 2.0a or better cable and 2.0a screen but does the GPU port matter? Its not something I looked into. Does the DVI socket need updating like HDMI or will that just work?

Possibly but it has SLI tabs so if you were to have 2 that would be quad SLI that isn't supported on 1080 is it?

Its more "not supported" - it can be got to work and can be supported by AIBs, etc. in terms of enabling it - but nVidia doesn't recommend it as they are no longer putting resources towards supporting it.

Quad SLI is pretty much dead going forward unless developers support it on a per game basis via DX12 multi adaptor.

Any word when the EVGA 1080Ti's are out and how much they will be?

No but I did read about half way through the thread a few months ago and im sure I remembered June/July 2017 but could be wrong - guess that now changed, or i was wrong

The thing is, it's about 40 pages of speculation :D

Nobody really knows what NV have planned this year, but I'm sure they have something exciting up their sleeve ;)

Looks suspiciously like a dual core GPU :s

Welp its not. It's Gigabyte's transition for enthusiast gaming stuff called Auros. They even have a mobo with that name.

And it's a 1080 and has a copper backplate heatsink. Something ive wanted to see on GPUs for a long time.
