**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

Having played on a Titan XP powered rig I'm more excited as to what comes after Pascal than I am about the cut down Titan XP i.e 1080 Ti :)

The Ti like the gtx780 ti might not be cut down. It could be the full gp102 chip. If Vega is good Nvidia might have to bring the full chip to have the performance lead or just to compete.

That one is 1080 GTX, as a heads up , 3c cooler then the xtreme version it replaces ;)

But he says

'the actual graphics core in here is so new we can't even tell you what it is - it will be launching from nvidia very soon' 'the positioning of aura as a high end brand matches perfectly with this cores target market - it will certainly be an interesting spring time'

1080ti spring release confirmed ;)

My mistake, the backplate is 3c cooler then the old version, whole card as a whole is a lot cooler.

Have know doubt that their will be an Ti version , just that ones a 1080 :)

I'm expecting venders to use current PCB with slight tweaks to get then out as soon as possible instead of designing from the ground up

if they manage that, it would be an amazing technical feat. I doubt it, to be honest, next year is when I expect Volta to hit.

Thing is the titan x isnt even a full chip? Where does that go? Could they release a further cut down chip aka the 1080Ti? I think they could potentially slip in the 1080Ti but it all comes down to if they need with with Vega.

Full chip is for the professional card I think. Note sure how many cores down the TXP is but think someone pointed out it might already be the optimum number of cores for a graphics GPU - wouldn't gain a lot more with a fully enabled chip. Dunno if that would be the case for sure though. Definitely doubt the full expensive chip would make it into a Ti unless have loads of stock of the full chip and need to be rid - think they'd rather raise the TX bar another level but as said it's doubtful there would be much further graphics gain :)

I suspect we might see a similar sort of generation to the 700 series come out (ie refresh of the 1070 and 1080 bumped down to the X60 and X70 cards, and then two GP102 chips, like the 780 and 780Ti sitting at the top as the X80 and X80TI). The 780Ti had more cores than the original Titan so perhaps we might see that with the full fat Pascal chip. It just might be the 1180Ti instead.

I always thought it was 770, 780, 780ti so they always had the room to drop a 790 and thus same for 970, 980, 980ti and now the same again for 1070,1080 and able to drop a 1080ti or 1090 or 1090ti etc.

That is exactly is what's going to happen i'm afraid. Until Volta. Just a refresh like the 700 series. I guess this is why a lot of questioning if they will see a 1080Ti.

Na, the 780Ti was the fully enabled all core Kepler card I think. They didn't have anything faster.

We know Titan Pascal isn't the fully enabled fastest thing they have so I wonder if the full blown GP102 will be a 1180Ti.

Given the cost of the TXP I'm doubtful any Ti will be as quick or quicker for less money and people just wont pay that kinda cash for a Ti. I'm doubtful of a refresh that would mean the TXP becomes fully enabled but potentially running at lower MHz and the Ti using the same or the current TXP chip, again, partly due to the current cost of the TXP. If Nvidia took a bit of memory from the TXP to create a Ti and priced it at £900+ would people buy it? Sure it would be £200 less than the TXP price but that' been around since when, September?

I think a Ti needs to be < £ 800 and they won't do that with the TXP chip IMO, unless its a case of getting rid of final stocks they might have built up

Again exchange rates. Highly likely Nvidia could and will release a 1080ti which would be <£800 at the old exchange rates of 1.5 dollars to the pound. As we approach parity with the dollar, expect the 1080ti to be north of £800.

Already they have increased the Titanxp by £100.

They dont need to subsidise UK buyers by making it cheaper in the uk, they will set a worldwide release price.

Tough on uk buyers? Yes but thats life.

Remember you can still use an original Kepler Titan as it packed 6gb of VRAM, the 780 Ti is a bit more limited with 3gb.
