**Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti Review Thread**

How loud is the reference cooler? Not too worried about load noise but which is the closest to silent idle? (Obviously going from previous cards)

Thanks! I'll be sticking with 60hz for quite a while so that does make it temping to maybe grab a Ref over a Hybrid then, decisions decisions!

*Grabs a wad of twenties and pops to bank*

How do you go about this?

I use riva tuner to limit my fps to 65 in all games. Most games will have vsync, I assume you are doing something similar?

I have a 60hz monitor and I always have adaptive v-sync on, with a beast like the 980TI and capped to 60hz and I don't think I'll be desperate for G-Sync any time soon, probably stick with 60hz even if I upgrade to 1440p.

On the fence whether to get EVGA Reference or their ACX cooler. Are Reference coolers significantly louder than the proper coolers? I'm thinking for sli later on how much of a difference reference would make.

Anyone know if prices are likely to fluctuate when AMD release the 390x?

As this card is cut down like the 970 I have to ask, has anyone tested if it's 5.25GB? ^^

I'm actually being serious, I wouldn't put it past them to pull it again.

I really think it can depend on your case cooling, I've personally always found the ref coolers (That expel the hot air) to be quieter than the blowers in my case.

That depends on your chassis and overall system cooling.

I think of the NZXT H400 the reference coolers are better since the chassis doesn't have amazing airflow. So the reference designs help to exhaust hot air instead of pushing it back in.

Also I currently have GTX 580 reference in here, if the 980Ti is similar or quieter I'll be very happy.

I figured as much, I'm using the Corsair Air 540 so the case runs pretty cool but I don't watercool so was thinking potentially reference might be better to keep overall temps down but I do love the EVGA coolers they look fantastic.

Definitely grabbing one of these, going to go for a reference as I plan on setting up a custom loop now that I know the Titan X blocks will work on it

If you want heat to blow in your case get a custom cooler. If you want the heat to blow out the back of case get reference. I've had all Nvidia reference coolers since the 780. They have been very quiet and cool in my case. Not a fan of custom coolers anymore because of the heat issues with them

Tricky decision. The Hydrocopper looks like a decent deal, but I guess it may hurt re-sale value?

Then again, how long will the wait be for aftermarker 980Ti blocks?

Just read a few more reviews, got to say the difference between a 290x and 980ti performance is massive in some games

Temperatures seem to vary across multiple sites though, some show it running as hot as the 290 and others show it running a decent bit cooler than the 290 :/

I was likely going to get a cheap second hand 980 but not so sure now... Looks like the ti is worth the extra especially since I will be going to 3440x1440 sometime in the next couple of months, I just hope we will see more monitor brand choice other than asus and acer for 34" gsync, want to try and avoid those 2 brands, more so acer :p Either that or nvidia start supporting adaptive sync!
