NVIDIA GeForce GTX 800M series to be revealed at CeBIT

MSI has just announced that it is going to showcase a brand new notebooks with GeForce 800M series on board at CeBIT, which starts today.

New GeForce 800M series GPUs will be used in Dominator and Ghost gaming laptops. The same mobile graphics cards will also be used with MSI’s Nightblade gaming AIO PCs.

Seems only the GTX 860M is based on Maxwell from the leaks so far..

Gigabyte to launch second factory-overclocked GeForce GTX 750 TI

In addition to already released GeForce GTX 750 Ti, Gigabyte decided that their factory-overclocked model was far from what it can achieve.

For that reason Gigabyte introduces even faster GTX 750 Ti with a GPU clock up to 1215 MHz (base) and 1294 MHz (boost). This is simply what I told you about the overclocking GM107 potential even before Maxwell was released. Back then I mentioned that manufacturers will come up with 1.3 GHz cards, and this is exactly what is happening here.

Need the high end cards now lol.

Geforce GTX 880: Comprehensive Leak shows alleged specification of the Maxwell GPU GM204

Z. Obermaier has on the Czech website tyden.cz the alleged specifications about Nvidia's upcoming Geforce GTX 880 published. The manufactured in 20 nm Maxwell GPU should come to 7.9 billion transistors and unite 3,200 shader units together. The term "GM204" and the 256-bit memory interface only small suggest, however, that the "right" high-end Maxwell will appear later.

7.9 Million Transistors
3200 Cores
40 ROPS
4GB DDR5
256-bit-bus

Gong 780Ti SLI soon. I don't think I have to worry until the very high end comes? That'll be awhile yet coming from this news.

Yeah, looks like Nvidia could be releasing mid-tier stuff to compete with AMD's first round of cards. Guess the very top end stuff could come later on GTX 880 Ti?

Going to stick with my Ti's or join the RED team if they put out a more impressive GPU. I do have my doubts that Nvidia is going to be on a 256 bit-bus though. Maybe this 'leak' is to throw the competition of the scent ;)

Same price as a 780Ti for not much more performance? No thanks...

If those specs are true and it is released at the same price as the 780 Ti I would be very surprised, especially if it supposed to be a mid range card!

Like the 680 if Nvidia did this, it's not a 'mid range card' but rather Nvidia's mid-tier, good enough to compete with AMD's first round of cards. Very much like the 7970 VS 680 situation. With the 780's and 290's coming later on.

So the first cards would still be faster than what we have today, they just wouldn't be the fastest from the stable, they would come later.

Really don't fancy being drip fed upgrades again so I'll prob just wait it out until both camps release the full parts. Looks like it could potentially be another boring couple of years in the GPU space, waiting for the real deal to arrive.. My Ti's will do nicely until then though :p

Think I'm set on keeping my current setup for a long while. When a single GPU (Nvidia or AMD) can offer the performance of 780Ti SLI and use less power, that's when I'll upgrade.

(Subject to change) :p

For anyone interested in the compute capabilities of Maxwell, specifically with regards to CUDA programming, here is something I found whilst learning about CUDA:

https://developer.nvidia.com/maxwell-compute-architecture

and

http://devblogs.nvidia.com/parallelforall/5-things-you-should-know-about-new-maxwell-gpu-architecture/

So, it looks like Maxwell is going to be significantly more powerful with CUDA programming - even if that does not necessarily interest you, it could indicate that Maxwell will be a powerhouse of a GPU series all round and so might also be a significant improvement on Kepler for gaming and benchmarking too.

Apologies if this has already been posted.

Yep, gaming, compute, CUDA even mining. Maxwell is going to be awesome.

Imagine we will have to wait till the second wave of Maxwell to get fully enabled chips, but even the first wave should be faster than 780Ti and Titan Black and use much less power.

Going by other rumors AMD's new stuff is looking pretty tasty as well.

Going to be an expensive end to the year as I say I'm going to try and resist the upgrade but inevitably end up buying two GPU's and new CPU, mobo and ram :p

I have a theory about 20nm cards from both AMD and Nvidia..

Bear with me..

I believe the performance VS power use is so much better on the new AMD/Nvidia architecture on the 20nm node, that this is the reason we are not getting any leaked information.

If they were leak info now it could cannibalize sales of things like 290X / 295X2 and GTX 780Ti / Titan.

I think we're gonna see a massive leap in performance VS power use, to the point where older cards will be irrelevant in those terms in comparison, anyone who knew would not pony up the money for a 780Ti / Titan / 290X / 295X2.

The first wave will offer 290X / 780Ti performance in a power envelope about half what we have now. A massive difference, the second wave will use more traditional power envelope but as performance is so much greater it's possible we will have Titan Z / 295X2 performance in a single chip..

Or I could be wrong lol :p

I think you might be overly hopeful there Boom ;)

Haha.

^^^
This

Nv and AMD will continue to milk it like they have always done:(

I'm not saying they will be cheap, I'm saying GTX 780Ti performance in half the power envelope. A massive step up from what we have now. The second wave of cards that utilize traditional TDP will be so powerful in performance they will match Titan Z and 295X2 in performance.

Yup, you heard it here first :p

I vote wrong :p

But really hoping your right :D

Lol, me to..

NVIDIA preparing Maxwell GM204 and Kepler GK210 GPUs

A new leak about the upcoming Graphics Processing Units from NVIDIA has just surfaced.
NVIDIA Maxwell GM204, a heart of GeForce GTX 870/880?

The first GPU that was listed on Indian website is GM204. This is undoubtedly a mid-range GPU. The rumor has it that this is the processor for GeForce GTX 870 or maybe even GTX 880. We can clearly see GM204-GB3-256, which could suggest we are looking at 256-bit interface.

^^ Well this skuppers my 20nm fantasy :p. Looks like the lacks of leaks on 20nm could be because 20nm ain't happening any time soon.. Guess AMD / Nvidia are happy for the phone vendors to soak up initial 20nm costs this year..

Meh.

I gave in and bought 2 780's for SLI this morning. No point in 780Ti price was to much.

Nice one.

Let's hope this (No 20nm etc) isn't disinformation being spread to entice people to upgrade now thinking nothing new is coming soon...

:p

Let's be honest 780 SLI, 290 Xfire is all anyone really needs anyway..

I only got my Ti's a few weeks back so am happy to ride em out for the year..

NVIDIA GM204 and GM206 to Tape-Out in April, Products to Launch in Q4?

It looks like things are going horribly wrong at TSMC, NVIDIA and AMD's principal foundry partner, with its 20 nm manufacturing process, which is throwing a wrench into the works at NVIDIA, forcing it to re-engineer an entire lineup of "Maxwell" GPUs based on existing 28 nm process. Either that, or NVIDIA is confident of delivering an efficiency leap using Maxwell on existing/mature 28 nm process, and saving costs in the process. NVIDIA is probably drawing comfort from the excellent energy-efficiency demonstrated by its Maxwell-based GeForce GTX 750 series. According to a 3DCenter.org report, NVIDIA's next mainline GPUs, the GM204 and GM206, which will be built on the 28 nm process, and "Maxwell" architecture, will tape out later this month. Products based on the two, however, can't be expected before Q4 2014, as late as December, or even as late as January 2015.

The GM200 is a different beast altogether. There's no mention of which process the chip will be based on, but it will succeed the GK110, and should offer performance increments worthy of being a successor. For that, it has to be based on the 20 nm process. It will tape-out in June 2014, and products based on it will launch only in or after Q2 2015.

So it looks like the first proper next gen card will be in Q2 2015, this could likely be a Titan successor and be the fastest card until Q4 2015 with the high end 20nm refresh of the earlier Maxwell cards.

Anyone else think this is looking like another repeat of the last gen. I.e mid-tier cards coming first, guess we have to get used to paying big money to get the best tech early in the form of the Titan..

Might go RED this next round of cards.. I hope they have something good coming..

What I get from all this is It'll be late 2015

^^ This.

We could see a big Titan GK110/GMXXX like card and price in early 2015, with the rest of the line getting the big GMXXX core at the end of the year Q4 2015. A repeat of the GTX 680 > Titan in early part of the year and then later 780 > 780 Ti in Q4. Nvidia made a ton of money this way, so very likely to want to repeat it lol.
