NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti to be "available" on June 3rd, RTX 3070Ti on June 10th

There's really no point in going for more grunt that 5600X for gaming...whether it's an i5 11400F, 5600X or 5900X, the actual gaming performance is almost identical. These days there's almost no games that are properly CPU limited.

My issue would be that it's only six core/twelve thread, where as the latest gen of consoles are eight core/sixteen thread. Shouldn't be an issue in a perfect world, but developers are lazy/time limited/cost cutting.

Of course, you could always deal with the issue if/when it arises in a few years. Don't want to start a 50 page thread on this like the 10gb vram on the 3080 lol

genuinely, there are a few AIB 3080 Ti cards with SRP's over £1800 inc VAT

Insane...

I know the Suprim X 3080 Ti is apparently RRP of £1799?

When the 3080 version cost £810 to begin with? Then crepped up to basically £1k?
The 3090 Suprim X started at like £1500 too I think? Wonder what its "RRP" is now... given the 80Ti costs +£300... gotta assume the 3090 is well over £2k rrp now...

I really don't understand why people keep comparing consoles and Gaming PCs. Apart from having the same basic architecture they are fundamentally different animals because of the amount of grunt that each core has and the relative performance of the GPU. You're better off comparing consoles to laptops.

If we take the infamous Cyberpunk for example, at 1440p, the FPS difference between 5600X and 5900X is 1% and that's well within natural variance. 5600X vs 11900K? 2%, again possible variance. A tiny OC on the GPU produces more than that. I have a 10850K and I can honestly say that I've never seen my CPU over 60% in games. All this proves to me is that every game is GPU bound and CPUs are ahead of where they really need to be for the pure gamer. The only reason for a pure gamer to need more than cores than the 5600X offers is if they also want to stream high resolution.

It was actually higher until an hour before the launch.

The problem is, SRP's are only really issued at launch and it's been the trend that the second and third batches of card (even if they are just days after the launch) have started to increase in price.

I remember Gibbo commenting here about a $50 increase to be cost of the 6700XT that he was told about on the day after the launch and we can all see how that card has gone since.

There are now 3080s which have seen our cost price increase by about 40% and yet we are the ones being called out in the media for the terrible pricing.

You'd be better off just not stocking the top end GPUs by the sounds of things, more hassle than the small margin is worth surely.

Everyone has their limit. £1k is the max I will ever go for a GPU.

The 3080 was my target but I was lucky to grab a MSI 3070 in Feb 2021 from a UK retailer (at a reasonable price).

I just hope future GPU’s that are in line with the 3080 are not priced over £1k, £1k+ being the new MSRP.

Most i ever spent was my current card, a used 980 Ti i bought a couple of years back for £200.

I was thinking of getting a 3070 as an upgrade of power and efficiency.
But A) i cant get one and B) even if i could the cost would not be worth the upgrade advantage IMO

Well I may as well just be a millionaire now, these bad boys are worth more than Gold bars at the minute. BRB going to go retire on the Costa Del Sol

Wow, i need a better job to get this stuff lol
It's been a long time coming, my current build is 4 years old and I've been waiting and waiting for the upgrade path that made sense. I was always waiting for the 3080ti and Intels new 10nm stuff but I missed out on snagging the 3080ti and Intel hasn't done their 10nm stuff yet so this is close enough for now.

I started aiming a few years back but sadly my current CPU/GPU started struggling before Intel's 10nm CPU's were ready and of course back then I couldn't have predicted the this whole GPU mess.

I was always the same and set a reasonable limit. With my current build I decided that I would make the last computer I am likely to need so I justified to myself to build a fairly state-of-the-art machine. Only the 3080 is the last piece if that particular jigsaw and I expect to pay more than my pre-order price in the long run. So, hopefully I will just be able to watch with interest the launch of any new GPU's safe in the knowledge that I won't have to buy one! I fully expect that £1000+ will be the norm for future GPU generations. The current generations have already proved that such prices will not slow demand.
