** NVIDIA GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION: WANNA PRE-ORDER?

If all this is true about the throttling then surely nv will ship with different fan profile? I cannot see them allowing the card to throttle down to base clock after 10 mins.

Devils advocate here but.... Why not? 95% of people buying this card wouldn't know if it throttling or not. And I wouldn't put it past Nvidia shipping something where they know they have pulled the wool over people's eyes... ram gate anyone?

Why not? Because I think it would be easy too remedy the situation with a change in fan profile which has little cost to Nvidia to do. However, I guess the 95% of people you mention might notice more noise than throttling I suppose :D.
I personally just doubt it but will be good to see how the buyers get on with them.

I think the situation will be better with later cards and suspect performance will come from cramming a lot more cores in than these early cards which might be obtaining performance more cheaply by using less cores but wringing their necks(higher clocks) to obtain the required performance. Pure speculation and not knocking NV but I reckon these cards will be a huge money spinner - despite high R&D costs of Pascal I wouldn't be surprised if the GP104 based GPU's are quite cheap to manufacturer. That's good business tho :)

At least someone looks a bit guilty about taking the money.

NVIDIA your having a laugh - £635 is a price tag you would think be for the GTX 1090 Ti Flagship &
GTX 1080 Price £399/435 max.

Lol :D

Going off the response offer this forum, they won't be getting 90% of the people on here to part with their monies. Even Easyrider is out.

But the funny thing is, even though nvidia are trying to take the biscuit out of them with the pricing of the 1080, they still want one. They will probably brake and buy one anyway :p

I would as you never know until you actually try one. We all know people love to pick up on a negative aspect then run with it. I reckon it'll turn out as a non-issue. I think many will buy them even if they're trying not to - new stuff :D

Might delay a purchase but for other reasons (want to build a new PC, spending time in opposite sides of the country at the moment so gaming time is rare and ruled out a small MATX case)

It is just shy of about 100% going from a 780 to 980Ti, which was the move I made last time.

From a 780 to 1080, I would say its about 125%.
