** NVIDIA GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION: WANNA PRE-ORDER?

Yeah expecting the Ti to have around 3500 CUDA CORES, and the Titan maybe a few more. If they stick with GDDR5X on the Ti / Titan brand I will be shocked, such cheap skates lol. They will still price them to the moon as well.

I don't know if it would make much difference, that G5x with 384bit would be 570Gb/s bandwidth which is a huge amount already.

In other ways too, it could allowed smaller designs, uses loads less power than GDDR5/X and bandwidth up to 1Tb/s. GDDR5X would just be Nvidia skimping out and Maximizing profits as usual lol. In fact after seeing the 1080 launch price. I expect GDDR5X over HBM 2.0 from Nvidia now. Hopefully AMD's Vega will be fully equipped with HBM 2.0.

Tbf, no-one knows if HBM2 is reliable yet or just how expensive it'll be!! They might be looking at cards in mid-2017 when the pricing will go down a bit.

Wouldn't surprise me if they used 12Ghz GDDR5X tbh, would give plenty of bandwidth esp when using a 384-bit bus...

I would switch to AMD, if they had better freesync monitors, but there is nothing to compete with the 3440x1440 100hz monitors. The LG 75hz one looks good but 75hz vs 100hz....

I don't know but I think if the card has enough memory bandwidth to run at 100%, then more bandwidth will not make it faster.

Who cares about 1Tb/s bandwidth if it can't be used by the GPU, just an expensive waste if time.
Using GdDr5X would have nothing to do with skimping, it would be making a GPU with the memory technology that is widely available, reliable, dependable and easily supplies. HBM2 is very immature and hard to source right now.

Would be interesting to see how that stacked up GDDR5X vs HBM 2 on higher end cards.

I really wanted to get one of these on launch but going to be hold off.

It may be the fastest available card right now but it's also clearly a mid range card when it comes to pascal.

Unless you absolutely need the extra performance for VR or 4k, you'd have to be absolutely crazy to pay £620 for a 1080. Nvidia really are parting your cheeks.

Whilst my 780 continues to handle 1440p I will be sticking with it.

My main bug bear about this release is all the people who keep saying "If you're not buying this card then the price doesn't affect you. etc etc."~

Yes it does affect me, it affects all of us.
Do you really think AMD will release a card with the same performance for £200 less? no, of course they won't, they will release a card with the same performance for £30/40 less. That's all they need to do.

This 1080gate puts prices up across the board. All it will serve to do is push people into consoles. It's disgusting.

Rumours abound now that PS5 will support 4K resolutions. Now who knows what that means, upscaling? 30fps? who knows. But all I know is that for the first time I am actually interested. Especially as it will likely release for cheaper than this single, 1440p card. Let alone the rest of the price of the PC.

Is your graphics card company playing games with YOU? Yes they are.

But not the game you would like to play.

They have all learned from other companies such as the I-phone products, Samsung, etc.etc. They realized people are never happy with what they have. So, every 9 months they add a little (a little) more icons or a little spec, or change the shape, to make it look like the "Next Big Thing Is Here." And people run, swim, dash, fly, trip and stumble, to go get "the next big thing." When in reality is not a big deal. But, they get you with all the commercials and fuss.

Did you know that manufacturing an I-phone in China by poor kids (and adults) cost around ($ 130.00). Yet Apple brings it to you for only (only) $800.00 every 9 months. Smile.

The same with Nvidia, Intel, etc. etc. They know the tricks and let it go on you little by little, squeezing all the juice $$$$ they can. So, before you buy your next phone or video card, ask yourself. Do I really need to spend this money on that? (9 out of 10 times- the answer is NO)

Full fat Pascal, as in GP100 has a lot of transistor for FP64 compute that will do nothing for gaming. The GP100 is DSR from twice the gaming GPU of the GP104. A GP102 that is a scaled up GP104 will have far better gaming performance than GP100 in a smaller, cheaper, cooler die.

I think NVidia will need full fat cards for the Titan or it will look a very poor second best to the full fat Vega Polaris cards.

At the moment I am only guessing which puts me in the same boat as everyone else in this thread.:)
