Not long to go and looking forward to Friday and seeing if AIB custom cooled cards are available and hoping they are. I do mind waiting but sometimes it is a must.

Decided im going to go 1080 as well now so roll on friday. Finish at 12 so gonna take a slow drive to ocuk.

Might see some for launch. Many reviewers already have custom cards lined up so we should see them very soon.

I'd expect release to be shortly after computex for the top tier cards. Likes of EVGA, MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte will all be there. They did the same last year. Which is 31st May to 4th June.

We did have top cards for Ti launch day so I'd still expect some non ref cards for launch or a day or two after.

Ah, I thought the non founders cards weren't due until later and that was part of the reason the founders cards had an early adopters premium.

Well I hope I can get a decent 1080 for ~£600. I'm dying to play the new Doom but my 290 won't quite cut the mustard with my monitor at 2560x1600. Plus if it can brute force it's way through Xcom 2 with less hiccups I'll be even happier.

Could be that the FE is only available for pre order and some custom cards will be out on 27th, but TBH it is looking like only FE on 27th and custom cards in June.

Hmm that does only mention colorful, not evga or gigabyte etc.

But Zotac and palit make some decent cards so hopefully they have some custom boards, if the gigabyte's etc. end up being too much.

Is anyone running a 144/165hz monitor like me going for two cards? Obviously I dont want to buy two, but for me I sold up my 780's so I could push closer to my monitors max refresh rate and I'm not sure one 1080 will do it..

Well the bubble will burst fear not. The last phone I bought was a Chinese smartphone (Xaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro). Faster than a Galaxy S6 and was only £120 brand new. I'll never be buying a Korean / Japanese / American phone again. This thing is every bit as good and a 1/5th the price.

Bring on the Chinese GPU's!

My 980s can push 60fos at 4k and 120+ @ 1440p as the 1080 is almost same perf a single 1980 custom should be fine

Cool! Well I think I will get just one on Friday and see how I go! I am very sensitive to motion blur in FPS games and high refresh rates have eliminated headaches and eyestrain for me so I could never go back to regular 60fps gaming just from that angle

Did I say I knew? If it's based off a GP100 it HAS to use HBM2, if it's an entirely different chip... it's an entirely different chip and can be anything. You are the one saying it is based off GP100... but probably has 512bit bus and double everything from a 1080.

What you are arguing is literally impossible, Gp100 is a HBM2 design, it doesn't support gddr5x as it uses an HBM memory controller, sits an on interposer and isn't designed for attaching to 16+ gddr5x chips. If it isn't GP100, then you can't argue what it is based off GP100 specs like the GP100 transistor count... as the GP100's transistor count has exactly no relevance to the design of any other chip.

You don't have to know what something is to point out what something can't be. You can't have a consumer derivative of a interposer HBM2 chip, without an interposer or HBM2.

So just like me you don't know what the spec will be.

Just like the rest of us you are guessing.

Can I just clarify what is actually happening on the 27th May ? The thread title says "Wanna Pre-Order" yet you cant pre-order. That to me suggests stock is not landing at OCUK on 27th but pre-orders are available from that date.

Surely if the product was available to buy (for delivery) this Friday then you could pre-order now ?

To me looks like the release date has slipped.

So now all our GTX 1080 Founders Edition cards are live, you will be able to pre-order next Friday at 14:00, we are also expecting several lines in stock by then but volumes are low to begin with so do be quick!

ocuk displayed models weeks before on launch date at around 11AM they was up for sale first come first serve. so much so that ocuk payment system went haywire and i had to order over the phone and pass them my PP invoice ID mainly over.

i believe this is the first big launch since the new payment system sooo hopefully it stays up...

Are you sure? I thought the 970s and 980s went up for sale on the launch morning.

The second batch sold out quickly too if I remember.

they went up for sale launch morning but pretty sure the models was displayed before hand as i knew which one i wanted before that day. might of got the time wrong though i got 2 from the first batch
