** NVIDIA GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION: WANNA PRE-ORDER?

You don't have to be super rich to spend £620.

Anyone in a half decent job is on that a week.

The price however still is super stupid.

Not so sure. I think they will sell well. Ti's still selling well at over 500 until recently and those were based on old 1year old+ technology and some say were overpriced but continually sold well. Some will think only 80-100 quid more for new tech.

£100 isn't much money.I can easily spend that on a weeks worth of groceries for me only.

I doubt they'll stay that high and will probably settle down to the current Ti price when the next big thing comes out.

Quick question. Will we have reviews of the AIB cards with the different cooling solutions before they possibly release on Friday?

Otherwise they'll be sold out before we know if they are any good or not!

Looks like the NDA is probably 27th for the custom cards, that is a guess I don't know.

How do I order from the us and avoid duty ? :p

Even the bay has that stupid international global thing added to when you pay.

I bought a Gibson Les Paul few years back when the exchange rate was 2 dollars for one pound...

Didn't get charged import duty and that was a massive box !

Well given that the average wage is £27k (ish), considerably more than 50% of the population will not be earning enough in one week to buy a £630 card.

It's not exactly "small change" unless you're literally wiping your crack with £50 notes.

Only way I know is if you can persuade the company selling it that it is itemised as a sample product. Otherwise you pay, well that is the case in the UK not so sure with America.

so if the founders edition is £650-620 will the normal 1080 version be £500-520 ect??

if so id rather wait for the normal edition, i mean theres not much of a difference apart from the looks right?

and then wait a bit more and the non reference cards might be cheaper? and will be more cheaper when the ti is released, not to mention buying a used/B grade?

guys i think after all this its gonna be affordable for the non rich people!!!

At least wait for the cheap ass plastic cooler cards come in at....if they are 600 we are doomed :p

Not really, I'm sure the average wage for those looking at buying enthusiast components isn't far off.

Also £620 a week isn't £43k a year.

No, it won't be THAT cheap. Well, I'll be STUNNED if it is, because at that price the FE becomes an expensive paperweight that no one is going to buy unless they need x2 for SLI or a small build with poor airflow... which means Nvidia will be losing money hand over fist on these cards. So no, we are extremely unlikely to see any cards at the £500 mark unless they are inferior to the FE. The majority of the AIB custom cards will run cooler, quieter, faster and OC better... so expect them to be in and around the same price as the FE (and far more desirable). It's basic economics, so why anyone thinks they'll be paying that much less for a superior and more desirable product is beyond me.
