** NVIDIA GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION: WANNA PRE-ORDER?

did you get a bridge?

There are no HBB for sale that I can see otherwise I would have. I already have a solid bridge knocking about that I can use and from the benchmarks I've seen (none of which were using the HBB due to no availability) the SLI performance is pretty spot on regardless.

Will pick up a HBB when I can, but not too worried for now.

I'm out of touch, I must be. I can't believe there are so many people desperate enough to buy this overpriced, over-hyped, glorified future mid range card that is causing the website and forum to run slow.
You know there are some very good reasons to upgrade now for some of us. For anyone in my situation its silly to wait and get a TI and it makes far more sense to upgrade now. Its not about being desperate, its about making perfect sense. So yes you are very out of touch.

You also seem to be confused about mid and high end cards. Just because a card isn't the fastest in the family it doesn't mean its not a member of the high end family. Any cards ending in xx70+ or higher are part of the high end family. That's how the naming scheme works. The 1080 isn't the fastest card planned for the family but that doesn't mean its not a high end card. If you start calling the high end cards mid range then you have to start calling the mid range low range. Then what do you call the low range? Anyway I plan to get one as it offers lots of benefit over waiting.

OCUK aren;t stocking the HB bridges for some reason, i asked in CS and got the following response:

I have spoken with the purchaser regarding this and I'm afraid that he's advised that we wont be stocking any of the HB SLI bridges in the near future i'm afraid so if you did want one you'd have to source this elsewhere. Sorry about that.

And I can't see anywhere on-line flogging them.

I'm not so sure TBH...I'm not sure the 1080 is such a good deal on reflection...Gregster and others will buy regardless and that's up to them but at the last minute my sensible part took over and thought hang on what am I actually spending 600 quid on...

And suddenly I thought Na....it's a bad deal.

The 1070 makes much more sense to me...

I am surprised by some of these prices, although I can't help but feel like we've been tricked... the sky high stupid price of the FE knocked us off our feet, therefore softening the blow of what are still some very expensive custom cards.

Yep. I mentioned this weeks ago. Nvidia do very good marketing. On one hand they are making a lot extra from those willing to pay the FE tax. Then on top of that make the others feel like they are getting a bargain with the custom ones. lol!

9 months from now 1080 £300 used, smart man awaits the proper pascal.

Totally. It could be even less than 9 months :)

What a bizarre statement, Games suddenly become more fun because you spent £550+ on an overpriced mid range GPU that really isn't much of an upgrade over the 980Ti?

Precisely. Logic fail there. Go easy on him though, the hype machine is strong and some find it hard to resist the shiny making logic go out the window :D

I resisted.

The more I think about the 1080 and the pricing the more I get less excited.

Now its here....its like (is that it)

Well done for finally seeing the light padawan.

Clear you mind of the hype and let logic flow through you, you have! :p;)

lol

Not going Titan.

Oh but you will.. lol. You said you was not going 1080 and you did so.. :p

I only purchased 1 x EVGA 1080 FE due to the lack of availability on the HB Bridge! I was all set to buy two, but it seems pretty pointless without the matching bridge.

Who knows one card might be enough for me and I can save the money towards when the the new Titan comes out :)

Hoping not to insult, but did you do a clean sweep of old drivers and install new from fresh ? Not sure if install drivers with old card then sticking in the 1080 would help ?...

tried ddu. latest drivers the last before non will install.

980ti installed latest will still not install but its installing older ones atm

That I can understand. Getting the 1070 over the 1080 can make sense. My post was more aimed at those saying wait for the TI which doesn't make sense for everyone. Just because we upgrade now it doesn't mean we are buying desperately or wasting our money. Personally I consider waiting for and buying the TI a waste of money. It all depends on personal circumstances.

Can anyone at OCUK confirm the FTW EVGA cards are due on the 3rd or are they just placeholder dates?

Cards are due throughout June on all models, I have around 20,000 plus ordered, they won't arrive on the 3rd, maybe a few hundred as the days and weeks go by more stock will come and it will free up.

Those who order first, get first. :)
