NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

Edit, withthe 670's in SLI I've alwasy had adaptive vsync on, which capped my frame rate to 60 as my monitor tears.

With the 970 I have left vysnc off. But surely this cant be the reason why the game feels so much more fluid?

Depends on the game, but vsync can create input and mouse lag so I'd imagine that's exactly why it feels more fluid now.

Thanks mate, I'll see what I can fix up. Should have the Strix tomorrow, hope it won't sag badly enough to really require any countermeasures;p

hi
my 2nd Strix is arriving tomorrow as well, the fix is fairly easy though because our hardware store has loads of those brackets

the cards will look far better when they're level.

I like them :)
They're much much quieter at idle than those short pcb ones I had, so I'm happy with that.

Unfortunately I only get 1475Mhz out of the cores, at 1500 I get some artifacts now and again.

They're still rapid enough at that speed. I'd suggest putting your best card in the top slot. You've always got the option to flash the bios for a higher power limit to eek a bit more out of them.

I set my core clock to 200+ and afterburner reads a higher boost clock and then after a while the same boost clock drops... why is this happening and what's up with this? (throttling?? but why?? power??)

GTX 970 MSI GAMING

latest drivers

Crack open GPUz and see what the PerfCap reason is.

It's either hitting the power limit or voltage limit.

i think you made a good choice for sli, i would be happy dumping the heat outside the case at the expense of a few fps

i've just fitted Asus Strix SLI, it's an easy installation, i just had to enable SLI and readjust the screen size etc, i ran Heaven Benchmark :-

score = 3504
FPS = 139

TEMP = 68 and 71 degrees

so it's much more powerful than the 7990, the GPUs are still dead silent but i've had to increase the intake fan speeds.....even so, only one of the cards is a few degrees warmer, so i'm very pleased with it ;)

now it's time to get those cards level, get rid of their sag ;)

Yep they will do fine for 1080p :p

Yeah they run at roughly the same temperature and fan speed too which is nice.

Palit Jetstream turned up today, only had a little play with it - but seems nice so far. Fans idle until temperatures breaches 60°C, and they're inaudible upto about 45%/1000rpm (about 70°C).

No issues so far, could probably do with some more ventilation though.

The card has a low power limit just like my Palits do, I can supply you with a modified BIOS that will give you a higher power limit, should allow for higher clocks too.

Just installed my Strix. So far, the card doesn't whine at all and doesn't even sag that much. ASIC quality is 77.3, I hope it's a decent clocker.

The card's bracket didn't align properly with the I/O cut-outs on my case even though the card seemed to be seated well. I had to use some pressure to position it correctly when screwing it in but there wasn't any creaking involved so I hope I didn't **** anything up. There's still a small gap between the bracket and the cut-outs on one side. Is this normal or something's not right? Everything's seems to be working fine, so the card is definitely in the slot.
