NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

same issue for me :(

1 fan now sometimes runs at 100% and the other turns off completely, i have to reboot to get it back to normal.

I moved from ATI because of problems only to hit a new one with Nvidia...sigh

Big thread on MSI forums and its not a fault of the sticker.

I run Min 30% on the fans and all seems fine for a week or two now.

Appreciate this is not the solution but if you don't want to do the return route then try it.

Its still silent at 30%

I think MSI will lose a lot of customers next round of cards.

Ok, so Min 30% and then you fix the rest of the fan curve, I'll try :)

No they wont because people get suckered into good deals and WOOOO MSI! Just look at how many times I warned them about the way they treated their customers and fan issues.

No excuses :(

Temperatures are a little toasty for me, hitting high 70's even after a short session. My (mATX) case is a little cramped, am I better exhausting more hot air or getting a side intake or something sorted?

Well I had an MSI 680 that I needed to overvolt to get it to run at stock.

The fans were faulty and clicking, and the next card I got was a sweet Gigabyte windforce 780 that ran great.

I then went and bought 2x MSI 970 :(

Not going to get bit 3 times, even if it means spending more money!

Sounds like you need to sort case airflow out, neither MSI for me goes over 65c during gaming

Its a bit better with a different fan profile, and the intake fans spinning faster. Space is limited in the case, so there's only so much I can do.

Will have to have a play and see if I can squeeze an extra fan somewhere.

so... asus strix or gigabyte g1 ? :D

Asus if everything works fine, Gigabyte if you ever need to RMA.

My Asus is awesome, no coil whine and will overclock to 1480 Core without increasing volts...however I shudder at the thought of having to deal with Asus if it goes kaput as I'd probably be without the card for weeks, as opposed to UK based Gigabyte turning RMA's around much, much quicker.

Pays your money and takes your chances...:p

Pushed the Strix to 1516mhz stable without touching the volts. It went back to 1503 a couple of times in Crysis 3 for a brief time. I'm not sure whether the card was throttling down because it sat on 1516mhz for far too long. I think there's no point in further overclocking, I might go for another 5mhz to get a nice and round +180mhz;p

Didn't expect the card to reach such clocks without crashing even once. I only hope it won't conk out on me when least expected as I don't really want to put up with Asus's RMA (even if the retailer handles the entire process);p

it will do if his fans are on 30%.......... because my asus Strix rose to 75 degrees on 30%..... the Asus only runs cold if you set it to default auto............. i think but i'm not sure.

back off your overclock and save for another card instead.......rather than stressing it too much; just for an extra 6fps.

because at only 1/2 overclock this card blows the 7990 into next week, in SLI it's dead silent, only a few degrees hotter, looks truly awesome and is as fast as hell at 1080p..
