NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

higher is different. on air supposedly higher is better, on ln2 lower is better. water is somewhere in between.

i don't know if anyone has really done a proper statistical analysis on what, if any, correlation there is between asic value and max core clocks. there are definitely instances of high asic cards that overclock poorly, and low asic ones that overclock well.

can you run the card at the clock speed you want? that's all that really matters.

Not clocked it yet, don't feel the need at the mo. I just was reading some threads where asic came up and just thought I'd have a look.

Well I am over the moon with the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics , installed the new ( 344.65-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql ) :)
 
Got my Inno3D OC, happy with it as Arma3 Epoch mod plays on ultra with 50 fps average. Only thing with the Inno card is how short the PCB is! Super quiet and cool runnign too.

That's something I've been wondering about as well. I missed the promo by two working days and my retailer contacted a local nvidia rep but he didn't agree to backdate my purchase. Nvidia can really be a bunch of *******s at times. I wouldn't complain if it was a week, but two days? Come on... This is ridiculous seeing as people who bought their cards a month earlier get codes without issue;/

Best utility to overclock my G1 970 is?

Would normally use afterburner for an overclock, but it doesnt show my actual speeds, just a + amount.

I bought mine on launch but I still sent a cheeky message in. OCUK told me to jog on but I was expecting this :D

I guess the closer you are to the cut off point (27th Oct) the more it pains? In all the graphics cards I have ever bought I only ever remember getting one free game! (Arkham City with a GTX 580)
 
Just ran the Nvidia moon landing demo and checked AB for max clock speeds etc to see what it is boosting to. Boosted to 1392 on the core, but my mem max was 3502, i'm guessing I should double it for some reason, which would make it correct?

I heard Nvidia advised to backdate all purchases made after 27th October (the date when the promo was initally supposed to launch) but I don't know whether it's true. I bought mine on 31st October. My retailer said he'd send an another message to nvidia with some info about people who bought the card a bit earlier getting their codes but he didn't get back to me since;/

msi after burner and gpuz as others have said.

1392 is your boost clocks s whatever you add on youll see the amount in gpuz if you set it to show highest clocks. you should be good for 1500.
 
Anyone here changed from 2x 6950's to a single 970? Is it worth it?

I'm thinking of getting a single Gigabyte 970 G1 for now since SLI/XF can be a bit of a hassle sometimes.

I changed from 2 x 7950s. The FPS might/is lower in games, but I do feel the image quality is better and I honestly do not notice the 10/15fps max that I have dropped. The card is obviously cooler, quieter and pulls less power. So unless you are a massive fps junkie I would go for it. Can always SLI at a later date if needed.
 
cool, I think it'll be a decent upgrade then since the 7950's are a fair bit more performing than the 6950.

And SLI in future was always my thought if needed.
