NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

6950 is about half as fast as a 7950 so a 970 gtx is about 3/4 times as fast :p

My 970 is nearly double the performance of my 7950. Approx 75-80% faster. So I would say you should expect around 2.5x the performance or thereabouts.

In fact looking at anandtech bench comparing the faster 6970 to a 970, it nearly 3x as fast. Substantial upgrade.

I have +170 on core and +440 on memory with NVidia inspector.

Any more on the memory and it crashes. Not changed any voltages.

Only doing this as trying to max out DSR and keep a good fps.

galax hof? dunno the dimensions, looks like a great card to me. imo reference cards also have great overclocking potential, i still claim that it's a silicon lottery. i have a g1 980, based on my results i'm not sure i would pay the difference between a ref card and mine.

What can I do to reduce the max load temps of my Strix? I'm still annoyed by the bloody thing getting up to 75c during more demanding sections in Crysis 3. I don't think it's supposed reach such temps...

I've just installed a side fan and that brought the temps down about 2-3 degs, so not a tremendous difference. Shadow of Mordor went from 68-70 (though it hit 70 only occasionally, even without a fan) to 65-67, which is nice. In fact, I'm comfortable with the card reaching 70-71c max but if C3 can warm it up to 72-73c at this time of the year (even though it's not that cold), it's easily going to shoot up to 80+c in summer. I thought 970s were supposed to run cool.

Sorry for banging on about the temps again but this is the only aspect of the Strix i find disappointing so I just wanted to ask fellow members for advice. I don't think the card's broken because idle temps are perfectly normal. In fact, the card idles at 33c the moment I'm writing this so the fan shaved off about 5-6c.
What temps are you getting in the most demanding scenarios?

Also, does perfect cable management really make such a tremendous temp difference? I tried to move all the cables out of the way but it's just impossible to pull off with my case.

Anyone in this thread using SLI 970s for 4k monitor? i think SLI 980s isn't worth the cash difference but for 4k is it?
