NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

I thought the same as you regarding the same upgrade... about 4 weeks later and I'm already hovering over the "buy" button for 970#2. :D

Haha, wonce you get the itch its mighty hard to stop scratching.
I am hoping for a trip to the states with work. Might pick my second up there :D

gigabite or msi ? for daily use 1500 mhz hopefully on core and 8000 memory if achievable ? witch is better .

if msi had backplate would be nice but gigabites backplate doesn't cool the memory as well , torn between these two.

buying one tomorrow

Ever since I got the MSI 970 I have noticed a lot of screen tearing when watching videos through any media player, even with vsync enabled in the Nvidia settings.*

The pc (windows 7) is connected to a monitor and a Panasonic ST50 via HDMI, the refresh rate settings are all fine (both in Windows and Nvidia cp) I also have the desktop cloned instead of extended for convenience when I want to play a game, but this brings up another issue since upgrading.

If I have my desktop displayed on the TV and then launch a game the picture messes up and starts flickering, this is fixed by changing the channel on the TV or avoided completely by simply not switching to the PC input on the plasma until the game has already launched. I never had either of these issues with my old 580.

Quick question, I have left the blue plastic caps on my 970's SLI contacts is this safe due to heat etc or is it recommended to remove them.

Your card won't get hot enough to melt them nor will they make any difference to temps it's just personal preference to remove them or not. I take mine off as I don't like the look of them.

Choose which ever takes your fancy, very close cards.

Some people prefer the Gigabyte, others the MSI.

Try a little Overclock...

I've just had a little play with it and archived the following (mild OC).

Core Boost = 1500Mhz
Mem = 1800 (quad rate)
Stock volts
Power Target 110% (this Card will allow 125%)
TDP during testing (as recorded by GPU-Z) 98%
Max temp (with a slightly adjusted Fan curve) 58.

Tested for stability via 2 hr loop of Heaven and I'll Game for a bit with it tonight.

HI All,

I have the MSI GTX 970 and while playing Far Cry 4 noticed my temps had peaked at 71degrees which seems quite high. The fans were at 1400 Rpm. my question is this ok? Settings are a the Optimal setting in the Nvidia Experience utility. 1080p, Very high (not quite the highest) detail settings.
From reading the forums most people get high 60's so with mine pushing over 70 thought i'd better ask for some reassurance.

thanks

I'm running 3 monitors on DP from SLI Gigabyte cards and I've only had a boot issue once (it behaved as if nVidia drivers weren't installed so default resolution) but otherwise I've had no problems at all using the latest non-beta drivers.
