NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

yes they fit fine in mine, end of the heatsink on the card just sticks into the HDD cage by a few mm.

How do you find them? Good cards for the case? Are they blower style to push all the air out.

H440:
GPU Clearance With HDD Cage: 294mm
GPU Clearance Without HDD Cage: 406.2mm
CPU Cooler: 180mm
Cable Management: Lowest Point - 17.7mm; Highest Point 32.5mm

G1:
L=312mm, W=129mm, H=43mm

L.E.: You will need to remove one of the hdd cages. Or 2 if you go SLI.

Thanks, I would like to go sli eventually but may have changed cases again by then.

after reading your post, checked mine, no Samsung memory like rest have:(
:( gutted tbh
i kinda knew from 3-4 benches, this ain't gonna be a good overclocker, was getting way to many artifacts in firestrike and skydiver.
will live with it, way to much ££ put into it now for sake of say 100mhz
kinda bad by giga on this move thou, as Samsung memory seems to oc great.
think once this gets around, a lot will not buy just cause of this diff in memory.
IT a premium card at a premium price of over most 970 cards. but if Don't oc as good or better than 970 £70 cheaper, can see a few avoiding, i would have for deffo if had any idea about this.
What sells the G1, What we read from every review,
G1 Overclockes like a beast, G1 Best 970 around ,
What a load of s*** that statement is now

Got mine from Overclockers 2 weeks ago, so just ain't diff shop you bought from :(

I know how you feel Rab! I wouldn't be bothered if I'd purchased one of the cheapies over this one, but I paid a premium for what I wrongly believed would be a damn good clocker.

I think these are cracking cards. No they're not blowers but the cooling on these is great, of course they are a bit warmer in this case but that's to be expected.

Oh you're making it even harder to decide on a 970 now. So many good brands with pros and cons to each makes it much harder to choose one.

Don't go by the reviews as far as overclocking goes as it seems they put whatever memory they can get their hand on at the time on them.

Now do I keep this card or send it back?

not sure what else i can do tbh. my g1 can get over 1500mhz on the core no problem but the memory is a different story. furthest i can get an oc is an extra 310mhz. tried upping the v and just cant get it to 8000 which is a bit strange as almost everyone seems to get to 8k fairly easy

sounds like mine has the hynix memory

Indeed it does mate. If you look on the back of the card you'll be able to see one of the ram chips in one of the gaps on the backplate. You'll just be able to make out nix on it if you do.

"Super Overclock" on the box isn't really the case with all of them as the box would suggest.

GPU-Z shows one of my cards as Hynix, and one Samsung.

I'm not that bothered as I'm running them on stock settings anyway. Outwith benchmarks, there's simply no need to overclock these cards.

My brother needed a new graphics card to run games @ 1080p, as his 560ti just wasn't cutting it anymore. Because of his smallish case, I recommended the OCUK reference 970 jobby, mainly because it exhausts heat out of the case, also because it would be my choice if I was in the market for a card right now.

Wow. Well impressed. Superb build quality, with excellent cooling.

I whacked Afterburner on his PC, and got to overclocking that bad boy.

After a few runs of Heaven, settled on a clock that scored 1500+ stable. On my tablet now, so not sure of exact clocks, but I think it was around +260 on the core, and around +450 on the memory. I've left it well under what it locked up at, to ensure a stable clock.

At full pelt it was running at 80c max, with no more than 50% fan speed, which was just a gentle swooshing noise.

Played a few games to test stability, and it was boosting up to 1500+ core, nice!

I now want one more than ever. :(

Edit: Forgot to mention, zero coil whine, except for a mild squeak when running at 3500+ fps when exiting Heaven.

Hi guys... been testing a Gigabyte 970 G1 card for a mates PC for the past week or so and using Afterburner the stock boost clock seems to be 1430mhz!..

I was running it at +100 giving 1530Mhz without any problems but i then realised that the stock boost was supposed to be 1329Mhz!... I am not complaining.. the car runs great at 1530 / 7600.. every time i have tried higher it didnt like it

I was just wondering if this is a glitch with Afterburner? or the do the cards come with different boost clocks sometimes?

also trying to run the core higher seems to cause throttling even with power at 120% but TDP not exceeding 80%

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences? and sorry if its already come up i had a quick search but theres a lot to look through in 127 pages hah!

Most likely volts ^, with a custom bios volts push past the default of 1.256v and end up at 1.275V but that's Afterburner read out, actual volts at the card will be at 1.3v+

Still though 1530/7600 is fantastic on default bios, with custom bios I reach 1550/8050 :) ( Never throttles )

If I have my cards on stock settings, will maxing out the volts in Afterburner help with SLI stability? Can I max out the volts in Afterburner without doing the cards any harm (seeing as there's a ceiling I can't go past)?
