NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

This Gigabyte G1 is one of the best cards I've ever got, wont touch MSI again until they buck up their customer support

I hope mine will be quiet too.

I got my Obsidian 800D for pure silence, I use Noctua 140mm fans with LNA and ULNA connectors, I even changed the default fan from the Corsair PSU with a Noctua one and slapped it on an LNA connection on an auxiliary pin on the motherboard. My keyboard is Logitech Illuminated for the silent keypress, after days of tests; the only actual noise comes from the mouse. The rest is a discrete hum.

If I'm happy with the board and it passes tests well, I'll probably end up trying to spot the noisy parts and shut them up with the risk of voiding the warranty.

Now I got a sapphire toxic r9 270x, which is quite lenghty, and it has plenty of space and is quite quiet.

Not sure what memory you've got on yours, but despite the reviews I've read all being Samsung my card has Hynix memory. Not particularly impressed as it definitely overclocks way less than the Samsung stuff.

Inno is supposed to have Samsung too, on their HABU cards, both gtx970 and gtx980.

H440:

GPU Clearance Without HDD Cage: 406.2mm

L.E.: You will need to remove one of the hdd cages. Or 2 if you go SLI.

Not sure, but I'm at 2000 on the ram ( 4050mhz ) in MSI Afterburner :) & 1550 on the core

Even with a custom bios? I've read that some have improved even the memory clocks with those. Can't say for a fact you'll get near 2000 though!

I know Marker has as well

Marker has what mate? I assume Marker is a forum poster? The Hynix just doesn't seem to clock as well. Wouldn't bother me, but every review I've seen has Samsung memory so I think its a naughty (imo)

Maker has the same card as me, same clocks.. So probably Samsung memory too

I had intended to sli two of them after a couple of weeks, but I'm left with the conundrum of one that will limit the other due to different memory.

May well return the 970 G1 and get two of a different brand and hope they both behave the same. Could be a stupid move perhaps? I don't know at this point. It does however, make an annoying buzzing noise under load too.

not sure if it makes a difference as I think it was only power delivery changes but what revsion is your G1 1.0 or 1.1? Its the only thing I can think of as yours is the only 1 I've heard of with Hynix

My G1 is a v1.0 mate. Teach me for buying from elsewhere I guess!

Could you do me a favour and look at the memory chip you can see under the backing plate through one of the holes in the back? If you don't mind let me know if you see nix or I presume ung at the end?

Thanks :)

after reading your post, checked mine, no Samsung memory like rest have:(
:( gutted tbh
i kinda knew from 3-4 benches, this ain't gonna be a good overclocker, was getting way to many artifacts in firestrike and skydiver.
will live with it, way to much ££ put into it now for sake of say 100mhz
kinda bad by giga on this move thou, as Samsung memory seems to oc great.
think once this gets around, a lot will not buy just cause of this diff in memory.
IT a premium card at a premium price of over most 970 cards. but if Don't oc as good or better than 970 £70 cheaper, can see a few avoiding, i would have for deffo if had any idea about this.
What sells the G1, What we read from every review,
G1 Overclockes like a beast, G1 Best 970 around ,
What a load of s*** that statement is now

My G1 is a v1.0 mate. Teach me for buying from elsewhere I guess!

Got mine from Overclockers 2 weeks ago, so just ain't diff shop you bought from :(
