NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

Looks like my card will arrive today according to DPD, I can't wait. What sort of overclock numbers am I looking at with stock voltage?

Each card is different just luck of the draw. I got mine to run at 1500 core boost and 7700 memory.

It came about 20 minutes ago, I just installed her and I'm ready to do some tweaking! First impressions are WOW, it's a quality piece of kit. Even stuff like the packaging makes it feel like a premium product. I just ran Shadows of Mordor benchmark with a modest +100/+100 overclock and my temps didn't pass 50c and the fans are dead silent.

Stock voltage
110% power
+230 core
+300 memory

That'll do me for now, but I can go higher for sure. I absolutely love this card.

Should be an interesting afternoon :)

Ooooh please let me know how 3 way SLi with those cards run and how the heat is !!
I have two MSI cards and I'm seriously thinking of getting a third MSI to run 3-way SLi with these cards instead of my 3x Gainward cards. The MSI's are just at bit happier with OC'ing. :D

what is the lenght of the MSI cards compared to others?....

I've 320mm to play with at the moment in my 200r case, but will be upgrading to R5 soon

Thats going in my Corsair Obsidian 800D. Plenty of room, I hope.
The usual suspects: i5 3570k (went 5GHz on air)
Asrock Fatality Performance
Corsair 1200 W
8 Gb Ram Corsair
Hdd. No ssd
Monitor: 19" 1366x768 60hz

Future upgrade: 1920x1080 22"

How can I get my free game? Thanks

I get my new sli bridges tomorrow so I will have numbers up from them tomorrow. :)

A little update on my SLI setup. I added a couple of fans blowing onto the bottom card.

Running Heaven for half an hour, the hottest card hovered around the 60C mark and peak temperature was 64. The bottom card was low 50's, peaking at 58.

Just shows how cool theese are compared to the previous generation. I've got fans below and behind my cards in sig, doesn't help much at all tbh.

OK well I am getting tempted now with these 970's after reading good things about them. I will be upgrading from 2x 7970's in crossfire so I will be looking to get a pair of 970's. I will be wanting to water cool the 970's (as I have my 7970's).

Is there any particular brand that overclocks better than the rest or are they all pretty much the same? As for stock air coolers well that does not matter if I would be fitting water blocks.

Really in too minds as my 7970's do perform really well still for their age but these 970's for the money seem very good value. It's either these or hold out till the 390X comes out. . .

In some cases, there's really no need to be spending £250 water cooling these cards.

Yes I realise that with how cool these cards run which is one thing I love about them.

But I do enjoy the silence of watercooling, plus my loop would be even quieter thanks to the lower temps overall which is always welcome.

W/C my g1 970 yest ( luv Silence)
temps 27-28c idle
ran it thru a few benchmarks, it never once went over 47c, bet could be lower as house is kinda warm this time of year all the time.
overall very happy with card, got it on oc dealofday, once sold game code, card cost £252, block £90, even got away with keeping giga backplate on, don't need to buy from ek
coming from 7950to>> 970 & 144 monitor, what have tryed so far has left me really impressed.

According to some tests, inno herculez boss ultra (hurts my eyes this name) seems to be ahead of gigabyte g1.

Why is the gigabyte still so popular?! based on looks only?
I know the inno card looks like its been through the dishwasher... a few times, but still... at this level of aftermarket cooling, you'd expect people to go for tests, not looks.

Gigabyte are popular due to the quality and more importantly, they have a very well established/reputable uk based support/returns system.

The card definitely feels like a quality item and is very substantial. I'm very happy with mine and I can't hear it over my cpu cooler at all, even after a long gaming session!
