NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

The grass is always greener and the future is always brighter... except it's not. You'd think we'd know this by now, but we don't seem to learn.

Looking at getting a 970 by the end of the week and wondered if anyone can advise if the difference in performance between the more expensensive 970 KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 "Hall of Fame Edition" and the cheaper Inno3D GeForce GTX 970 OC is worth the £75 difference?

Not in my opinion. My £260 zotac is great and overclocks well.

hi all a new Member and a new owner of a Gtx 970 g1.It took a few days to get on here i was interested in your views on a G1 or the infinity black edition? i was upgrading from a r9 270x toxic.(was going to go Crossfire but mobo slot 2 was only x4.) But after reading the problems people are having with the galax i opted for the G1.

Was just playing Sleeping Dogs then my black edition 970 started making a really loud sort of crackling noise (not coil whine) anyone know what it could be?

Edit- Took it out of my PC and the Galax sticker had peeled up off of the fan causing it to make the loud noise, sorted.. Expected worse

Very Very very very pleased with my GTX 970 SLI. First time with twin cards and they are running perfect in games. I never listen to the VRAM nonsense you need 4gb for this and 6gb for this blah blah blah proof is in the pudding I've never had problems with games for ages. So what if its only using 3.5 only way I would know is I watch the figures but I prefer to play the game.

Dont let a few people not happy with their 970's put you off if you are about to get one as someone said people prefer to complain to vent their frustration. They are fully entitled as is their want. The people who are happy tend not to say so. Thousands of these have been sold and the GTX 970 (and GTX 980) is probably the best card since the GTX 460 in my mind.

I loved them so much just look at what I did !!!

I'd say loads of people have posted about how happy they are with the 970. The vram thing is another issue by the looks of it.
I'm not happy with my 970 and its not just a few. Check out the Geforce forums. Just because your 970s are working (for now) dosnt mean you should brand people who say there not happy with there 970 as complainers.

Meanwhile I'll just keep hoping for nvidea to release stable drivers.

Lots of people have said they're happy with their 970s as someone else has already said, the vram issue is actually quite concerning considering the fps drop is very noticeable in some titles (Shadows of Mordor, BF4, Metro, Assasins Creed) when using over 3.5gb which definitely shouldn't be the case.

I'm not one of those people that look at figures either I prefer to play the games and the above is very noticeable in the mentioned games.

I am hoping this is just a driver bug but coming from an AMD setup which I never had problems with (except heat) I'm kinda regretting going green team, if the next AMD cards have decent reference solutions then I'm probably going to switch over.

i tried every driver with my g1

344.11 seems to be my personal fav.

performance is great for the cards. heat is super cool . noise on mine is almost non existent only thing i don't like is the image quality compared to AMD which i think is quite a bit better.

Thank you! Seriously I thought I was the only person that noticed this, even after making the changes to the rgb that were recommended by someone else.

have you tried changing limited rgb to full rgb in the nvidia control panel, made quite a difference for me. i also recalibrated my monitor

Ignoring this issue is like burrying your head in the sand , the card is advertised as 4gb not 3.5gb. Ok Technicly it has got 4gb but it is very hard to fill that last 512mb without major performance degrade where as in the same scenario of games the 980 has no problem filling its 4gb. You can say this is not a problem but its a big problem. Games are becoming more and more vram dependant and at some point this issue will affect you down the line. We can already see this happening today with some of the latest games and it will get worse if vram wasent a issue then why are the manufactureres releasing 8gb cards ?

Honestly im totally gutted i have spent best part or 580£ on sli , most of the recent games do no work well with sli. My setup should be more powerfull then a 980 but at the moment i cannot see that due to vram usage. I cant wait to sell these cards where as i will swap to a 980 which uses all of its vram or sit and wait for 8gb cards.

Agreed :)

I did but I'm back to using an AMD card on my laptop while waiting for my pc and I instantly noticed the image quality was much better on my 290 than it is on my 970 SLI setup.
