NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

The Inno3D card went down a treat, although there was a bit of confusion during the install. I built the system last year but wasn't there to put the card in. I didn't consider that my cable management might be an issue for anyone at a later date until I got a call asking where are the power leads for the graphics? :D.

May order a 970 this week then a 2nd next month, bare in mind i have Raven 2 case so should i go for these in SLI: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-264-EA&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1010 ?

Or should i wait a bit more since my SLI 680s still fairly good but can't run Ultra on Rome 2/Watch Dogs/Lords of the Fallen/AC Unity which are games i am currently playing or willing to play soon.

Oh if anyone has this card, what temps are you getting? is it quiet? thanks.

You definitely want reference design if you're going SLI, but given it's only £12 more, I'd personally opt for the OCUK 970 reference myself (which I have). It's a better built card with better components (and guaranteed not to whine), and will still OC very well. The supposed 'Superclock' on the EVGA is achieved without blinking on my OCUK 970. You could certainly keep the 680's, still decent cards, but you'd notice the improvement with 970's and it also may take a while for the price on the OCUK reference to drop again, as it will be up to £335 before much longer.

:)

The reference will run hotter than non-ref, but that makes no difference and is to be expected. It is quiet yes, I can't hear it at all until the fan gets up past 50%, but it never does that during normal gaming in my experience.

That's good to know, the noise levels were my only worry. Took the plunge and grabbed a pre-order the other day. It looks so beautiful.

Q.

How does Gsync differ from Adpative Vsync?

At the mo, I have been usng my 970 with out vsync on. I get tearing. But I turned adaptive on and it was much better but I could really tell the difference in fps. It felt slow. :o

Shame you can't get a 144hz monitor because with mine now I never need Vsync ever, it never tears. I never knew it was possible after coming from a 60HZ monitor that teared every time the screen moved :o

I've gone balls deep today - last week I jumped up from a 2500k to a 4790K via the Hero VII, and now I'ved ordered two Asus Strix 970s to replace my 680s. This is in anticipation of new monitors creeping out to market Wish my credit card luck!

im wanting to go 4k with the philips 40 inch 4k monitor. im using a r9 290 ek watercooled 1200 gpu 1500 memory. was thinking of selling and buying the gtx 970 hof. would this be a better card or keeping my r9 290. thanks in response ;)
