NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

how you find out which version you on ?

Run the VGA Tools -- @BIOS utility and it will tell you. You also do the flashing using this too.

I had some problems untill I figured out that you have to disable the gpu in the control panel before the bios program will work.

Just flash the bios which is the same series as yours.

My update ended up being the F42 bios.

(The one thing that is confusing is that each bios update (F3, F42 & F51) each contain two files when you extract them.. I was a bit confused but figured this must be normal so just choose one of the two and it worked fine. Let me know if you figure out why there are two files)

Does anyone actually use the GeForce Experience? The concept I love. Having the optimal experience set for you at the click of a button was one of the things that drew me to Nvidia in the first place.

But in practice it hasn’t lived up to my expectations.

It sets game settings way to low sometimes, where my hardware is more than capable of running it fine. I have also found inconstancies between what the Nvidia optimal guides say and the GeForce Experience says.

So I haven’t bothered to use it for over a year now.

Can’t say I pay it much attention other than when it pops up with new drivers to install, I can see why it has some good features for many.

I’ve played around to see if I can notice the difference on what I feel is the optimal settings for a game to what it thinks, but normally I put it back to what I think is best, which as you say is normally higher then it recommends.

But then I'm not sure it takes into account overclocks which can result in being able to turn a setting or two up.

You just bought a 970 with everything going on??

Despite the recent developments they are still good cards, as long as you are aware of what your buying and any limitations it may have.

At least now people know exactly what they are getting and can make an informed choice, the 970's are not going to get mass recalled and it might even focus NVidia into releasing some decent drivers to help appease owners.

*edit, sentiment is good but didn't see that he hadn't just brought them, so ignore as needed.

I think you are probably right there, but I am the first to admit I chickened out of my 970 Pre-order as although I think they will be fine for what I want to do for the next 6-12 months or so, its beyond that concerns me so I changed the order to a GTX980 that arrived this morning :)

I know some will think this rewarding Nvidia for what they have done but after spending the last few months researching which new card to get anyway, I still think the Green team is best for my needs right now, (G-Sync).

This may change next time I am looking for a new card who knows?????

This really is a very poor show with the 970 memory problems ongoing and not a mention in the OP.

If people start these threads they should update them, the same can be said of the 980 owners thread.

If the people who started these threads can not be bothered let someone else who does care do the job. That does not mean me either as I am a little busy with other threads.:)
