NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

I bought a Zotac 970 and found the fan to be noisier than previous generation blower fans even at idle. Has anyone else noticed this or do I just have a card with a faulty fan?

It's held upright as I have it installed in an FT02 case but it just was unbearable hearing it above all the fans while just browsing the internet.

I was so close today to purchasing a second 970. I thought I needed more in the W3.

But, I've just played for about 2.5hrs and I have to say I have the game maxed with everything on and at 1200p it is flawless.

No problems. I suspect this is one game where an SSD helps as well. As a mate has a faster system to me (3570k vs 4770k same GPU but his is overclocked) but he is complaining he gets stutter with hair works on. Difference is I have an SSD and he has HDD in an array.

I'm still happy with my Strix 970 but I wouldn't mind it running a wee bit cooler when under max load and OC'd. I kinda regret I couldn't get the MSI 100ME Edition as they weren't on the market at the time. It's lighter, smaller and probably runs a bit cooler/overclockes better. Well, no point in switching now I guess:p

Officially joined the club with a Windforce X3, fantastic card and temps well in check, great cooler. Boosted to 1300Mhz stock even though it says on spec boost is 1250mhz.

I've only messed with it briefly and got core to around 1500MHz stable wacking up power limit and allowed 87mv, is that about the ball park for these things or am I on the low side?

Is there any way to allow more voltage than the standard amount, flashing a different bios or doing the shunt resister mod?

What should I be able to get from the RAM on these? Seems to top out about +250 for me. I was stable in heaven on a lot more but real games bomb out on me.

Core seems to have settled at 1440 ish which I guess is ok but again 1530 was ok on heaven.

Could a weak psu cause this? 700w OCZ modstream from about 6 years ago running a Xeon hex at 4.5 and sli 970s... :D

Installed a second EVGA SC 970 for SLI this morning.

After playing GTAV for about an hour at 60fps it suddenly started stuttering and getting really awful to the point where it was literally at 1fps when I quit.

Overheating, or power supply issues? Any way to diagnose?

What power supply you have would be a useful starting point?

Ordered one of the OcUK Refrence Cooler 970s on Friday.

I'm assuming this is for SLI-use on a mATX board? Otherwise that model doesn't make much sense as eloquently outlined in this review:

As an executive summary, they found the card to be hotter, louder and slower than its peers, which come with much more palatable pricetags to boot (depends on where you buy, naturally); the only marketing-promise this card actually meets is the reduced (not completely eliminated, mind) coil-whine, and the upper echelon Zotacs meet or surpass it also in this category.

As a special remark, the DHE cooler was found out to be of no acute relevance vis-a-vis temperatures inside the case, as long as you have even one fan blowing air in or out of the case.

My Zotac Amp Extreme Core Edition is a fantastic card, really happy with it and build quality is awesome. Boosts at 1442mhz out of the box and is virtually silent with it's five heat pipe cooler. My first Zotac card and I'm impressed.
