NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

Just read this review which includes overclocking the MSI 970: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2014...70_gaming_4g_video_card_review/8#.VC8AXhZcjT0

It's really well written and helps you understand the best method of overclocking. I had mine at +170 on the Core and didn't realise why it was throttling... it was because there wasn't enough power going to that card. I've upped to maximum voltage and it's perfect now.

EDIT: Strange I've got my OC the same as them in AB but my maximum clock in gaming is just 1512 not 1542 that they achieve.

My card had a high voltage offset of +87mv but was let down by the weak +6% tdp limit, this resulted in my card being completely limited to a boost speed of 1440Mhz due to being capped by the tdp.

With the new BIOS the tdp limit is now +11% and my card now boosts constantly over 1.5Ghz.
Hi, did the fan parameters, I.e. the minimum fan speed selectable in Precision X etc or running at 0 rpm at idle, also change to that of the new BIOS?

No the fan profile is a bit on the low side with the new BIOS as the fans on the Jet Stream are better so I have to run a custom fan profile in Afterburner, the fan also doesn't stop when on idle or low loads.

No big deal though :D

Thanks for info but my question was poorly worded. There is a minimum fan speed percentage (or conceivably its a minimum rpm) which the fan will not go below even if you try to define a fan curve that goes below it.

I was needing to check whether this minimum still reflects the old BIOS or changed to the Jet. Stream BIOS?

Don't know what's up there as +150 doesn't give me 1542mhz like they got.

It's the full Jetstream BIOS fan settings by the look of it, when I set all fan settings to default in Afterburner the fan will completely shut off when below a certain temperature and then kick in when the core hits 79c, that's something that it did not do with the stock BIOS installed.

Many thanks for this info and for taking the time to report your findings

Base clock appears to be a lot lower than my G1,1178 for me & 1114 for you.
So i need only 162 to get to 1500.

Has anyone got the inno3d? Just wondering if my temps compare . it goes to mid 70's in shadow of mordor, granted I don't have a great case and have no cable management . one thing about the inno3d is that's its very short , my old 480 is huge compared to it . eventually I want a smaller case

What kind of noises levels do you get when in the mid 70s?
