Nvidia GTX 980 Owners Thread

Just got my MSI GTX980 Gaming today and had a look at the clockspeeds on GPU-Z and also compared them to a review of the MSI card from another site, and noticed the default clock speeds are that of a normal card not the MSI Gaming pre- overclocked card?

Heres a screenshot..... review on the left mine on the right.....am i missing something?

The card description when you buy it ...

looks manually OC'ed! in the first picture. your's is on gaming mode!

I think this and the GTX 970 owners threads should be closed so someone can start new ones that gets updated regularly.

I know that is not a nice thing to do but if people start these owners threads they should look after them.

wow nice card ...stupid money though

I feel sorry for anyone who bought the normal classified version but at least this time they could have guessed that there would be a Kingpin version.

This could also explain why the normal classified version is a bit of a damp squid with people taking other options like the HOF.

I know little of overclocking a GPU but could you not manually overclock your card to match the OC settings?

I'm curious now as I have the same MSI card yet like you have just realised I'm not running at the OC settings by default.

Yeah i could do that with Afterburner, but i could have also bought a non overclocked card for cheaper and done it myself......i thought i was getting an overclocked card that was oced from the card bios like all the rest of them....i feel it is a bit of a con tbh.

I have sent the card back and now the search continues again......maybe EVGA SC......or the Gigabyte G1?

i'm looking for a post or thread where someone posted up having problem with display driver where a windows file was causing problems with the nvidia driver! so they removed the file....can anyone point me in the right direction??? constantly having no display signal when i install drivers, really doing my head in, i have to keep disconnecting and reconnecting dvi cable to get a signal when drivers are installed.

any ideas guys?

Any-one hear made the switch from CF 290X's to SLI 980's and game at 4K.
Thinking about it myself but not sure it worth the £££ outlay, need to play Witcher 3 maxed at all costs though.

This looks a beauty of a card.i currently have a gtx 780 with a res of 2560x1440p.
And I was wondering if I got 980 ' s in sli how many years do you guys think I will get from them? Because spending around £800 on to cards is a lot of money.also would my psu evga supernova 750 watt be able to manage them in sli?
My rig is
I5 3570k clocked at 4.45 get
16th of ram
2 hdd
1 ssd drive

Thanks :-)

x2 GTX970s would be the way i would go if i was gonna SLI again......around £560 for 2 of those. :)

Quick question that I'm sure has been answered already.

Under load, what sort of temps should a 980GTX run at?

I just put mine in a tiny Ncase M1 and there's not a huge amount of airflow as the fans are facing down at the bottom of the case with about 2 cm clearence to the floor.

I only did a quick Heaven 4.0 run and temps were reported at 74C after the benchmark.

That's a Palit Jetstream
