Nvidia GTX 980 Owners Thread

Both my SOCs fly through heaven at 1500 without messing with the voltage though the top card is hitting 79. Doesn't seem to be throttling though according to afterburner. I have the fans flat out but not too loud really.

What's your stock volts?

Mine will not do 1500 at stock.
 
So with current prices what seems to stand out the most?

The SOC is the cheapest and has 2x8 pins for more power but what else is there?

I know most of it is down to silicone lottery.

If you had the money what would you buy right now?

Why is the reference more money?

I like the SOCs but i'm struggling to keep them cool in SLI, I thought they'd be the same as the G1 970s and be really cool running but they're different beats entirely. I got them as they were the cheapest.

I've got good airflow through the 540r (running the fans off an Aquaero LT to control their speed via the GPU temp) but to keep them at a reasonable temp the case fans are too loud for my liking, the Aquaero fan curve needs more tweaking I think.

should have gone reference with hindsight, got curved balled by the G1s in thinking they'd be the same.

Any case fan recommendations? I was using 3 120mm Noiseblockers but the Aquaero hates the PWM so i've swapped for 2 140mm PK3s which shift a lot but are too loud.

My Inno3d Ichill ultra will not get above 63 even after 2 hours on Heaven.

I am running 151, clock/210 mem and 25v for benchmarking

It has 2 6 pins so that might be why 151 is the absolute limit for me, anything above, the driver crashes. (that could be my PSU??) though there are higher clocks out there.

It is a massive card though. It requires 3 slots but SS-89 has them in SLI

My Heaven bench's are 78 and FS of 13450 overclocked.

It's stock is 1266-1367 out of the box.

I did get it on a deal so it was £449

I will stress it when GTA V comes out but it runs AC-U with no issues (My daughter plays it not me, just to add LOL)
 
Ordered a SOC

I should be fine for airflow although didn't realise that there are no water blocks for it, doh. Nevermind, the 970/980s run cool enough so putting them under water isn't really needed.
 
Had my reference 980 a week or so now, very pleased with it. Cool, quiet and clocks very well. I might not even bother water cooling it.
 
I have 2 reference 980's on sli in a corsair air 540 case, they run hotter than my old msi 970's so I have to use a custom fan curve to keep them in the low 70's but this makes them quite loud
 
KFA2 GeForce GTX 980 SOC Gamer 4096MB on it's way, 970 GTX G1 has an RMA number based on the VRAM scandal and will be returned once the 980 GTX arrives.

Gutted :(

just waiting for the next fubar when Windows 10 arrives and we find that neither the 970 nor the 980 is truly DirectX 12 compliant - lol :D
 
Just bought two kfa2 980 soc. Just reading up on some Temps . Are these generally fine then in SLI ?fan Sound isn't really an issue tbf as long as dosnt keep throttling , I'm running I an air 540 so assuming it should be fine . My two 970s generally throttled down 1 13mhz increment

Anyone modded there sideplate or added l.e.d to it or anything ?
