** NVIDIA RTX 30 SERIES (3090 / 3080 / 3070) NOW ONLINE AT OcUK **

I absolutely LOVE the aesthetics of the FE, the only thing I’m not so keen on is the power connector location...

Slap bang in the middle of the card, and from Digital Foundry’s video (unless they’ll change in retail) - the 2x 8 pin adapter is far too short to allow any kind of cable management :(

I would like the gigabyte aorus but its expensive tbh at 799

Yeah screw Aorus brand pricing unless I win the lottery lol, it's Gigabyte's attempt at Asus tax premiums :D

Likewise, though I read some reviews of previous generation Zotac cards and they seemed to be hotter/louder than Gigabyte/MSI/ASUS.

Looks wise, I favour the FE, or the Aorus Extreme but it's £££. I like that ASUS cards have a "quiet" mode but also £££.

Tbh, I'm not sure why I care so much. I have a 1080 FE which wasn't supposed to be particularly quiet and it's absolutely fine even at load.

I think most if not all the GB models have the zero RPM fan at zero/low load too. My GB 2070S does this when just in Windows. Fan only kicks in when gaming. Doesn't really bother me though, even in gaming it's pretty quiet.

Asus RMA is god awful so I'm not touching them. Had recent issue with mobo and they were so unresponsive and useless. Let alone the Asus price/tax issue...

Only thing putting me off FE as oDannyR says is the power connector is weird + unsure how the thermals will be. And whether the AIBs are generally going to be better and hold value more... So may go for the GB 3080 Gaming OC or Zotac Trinity. Should probably wait for reviews/benchmarks to release though.

to follow up on my point... I just read that CableMod are going to be doing custom PSU cables for the 12 pin (not sure when they’ll be releasing them) - but that would be around an extra £30 all in for a single cable

Think I might stick with Gigabyte, I also have a 2070s from them and it’s never skipped a beat!

I'm still not 100% on what card. I may go with Zotac if they do a 10 year warranty, think my 980ti had that.

Will be a 3080 regardless, 3090 is nice but a bit too much and I don't plan on gaming at 8K.

I wouldnt mind buying one with a good boost clock though as i never overclock so if there is a slight gain that be benefical for me

A slight overclock is never worth a £150 premium for an extra 5 fps if you're lucky imo :p

Just stick with stock, or let MSI Afterburner do a steady overclock for you... Always what I've done, but tbh I let my 2070S boost itself now anyway.

I ended up undervolting my 2070s to hit 2010MHz @ 0.962v and it’s rock solid. Temps drop the clocks to around 1980MHz usually but I hit around 64°c max with a custom fan curve.

Ditto - but I'm torn between Founders Edition because it looks so good... Or the AIB Gigabyte or Zotac variants, I like them 4-5 year warrantys :o

I've had my Gigabyte 2070 Super for over a year now and it's been solid. And they have a UK RMA centre still, unlike some... lol. Zotac also has a UK RMA place in Bracknell I believe and 5yrs is good. Hmmm!
If you change Gpu every year or two then why worry about the 5 year RMA.

Undervolting maybe the way to go on these cards.

I don't change GPU every year or two, but the apparent performance improvements this gen seem too great to pass up. This will be the shortest I'd have ever owned a GPU (just over a year :p)

My last 2 GPUs I had for about 3-4 years each... :D If I get any longer warranty it can often help with re-sale value, or if the GPU ends up with a family member which sometimes they do, I can help if needed for any RMAs.

Touch wood, not needed to for a GPU yet though.

I like the triple fan cooling on some of these cards though although the FE verison it looks like they do have smart cooling going on

I’m kind of gutted, I had my mind set on the EVGA model that OCers have listed just now but then I read about the UK RMA centre being closed :( not a massive issue but having to pay ~£20 to ship it off to Germany and the wait times would be a bit gutting!

I wanna pay as close to RRP as possible so it’s looking to be either Zotac or Gigabyte Eagle - unless I let impulse take over me when the clock hits 2pm on launch day :D

Yeah I mean the only thing is EVGA still apparently have great CS in the EU and test/ship back promptly... Think someone said it was just over a week and a bit when I looked up some recent EVGA claims from UK.

But I'm a bit apprehensive sending a £650-700 GPU out of the country for £20+ if I ever had an issue, and likely having to wait at least 1-2 weeks to get a replacement back + having to pay an extra £25 to get 5yr extended warranty (instead of standard 3yr). So if I had any issues my extra warranty has cost me £50 on top of the price after extending/shipping... Doesn't sit that great with me.

May just go with a 4yr warranty model from GB or the 5yr Zotac Trinity 3080.

Absolutely mate. In that worst case scenario, it would make the price of the listed EVGA model £709, and there's a handful of other cards you can choose below that cost from a brand with UK RMA's.

The only thing giving me a dilemma is that I was watching Gamers Nexus' video on the AIB card brands and they said that last gen Zotac cards were the worst performers thermally

I wish Corsair made GPUs... I've had to deal with them twice and they've advanced ship me things no hassle and very quickly from Taiwan.

May just go for the GB Gaming 3080 4yr then!

Corsair customer service and RMA is just above and beyond everyone else (except Logitech who are just as good).

I drive past bracknell on my way to my GFs. Easy drop off :D
