** NVIDIA RTX 30 SERIES NOW ONLINE AT OVERCLOCKERS UK (3090 / 3080 / 3070) **

Sorry in advance, but.... can i get folks thoughts on something, for those who will be waiting awhile to get a 3080 (ignore/shoot me down if this isn’t the topic of today’s discussion):

  • Is there a point at which it is worth waiting for the 20GB variant or Big Navi to be announced? I’m paranoid asf, that IF... i could get a 3080 in the next week or two, i’ll end up getting shafted by a new model announced before the year is out.
ps. Feel free to laugh at my pc building newbie ass.

When they bring a 20gb version out it's going to be much more expensive and won't make a difference in most games right now but you might get a few more years out of it as games start to need more vram.

I wouldn't count on Navi being able to compete with nvidia 3080 or have working drivers.

If you wait until later in the year you could get a 3070 and save your self a few £££s

As long as you get a 3080 for around retail price of £650 I don't think you would regret it. It's half the price of last year's top card and faster.

I ordered the EVGA 1080 on the 2nd June, it arrived on 4th September.

It took 94 days.

94 days from yesterday is December 20th!

Y'all complaining about not getting it next day? smh...

(the above is a bit of a joke, OcUK increasing price and taking money without any communication is pretty terrible)

And the moral of the story is... Don't buy EVGA? :p

So I managed to get an order in but the whole thing has made me re-evaluate how much I really *need* a GPU upgrade right now (I think the FOMO is real!) so I've cancelled my order for now. Will pick one up at some point in the future when I feel it needed.

Why go to all the effort of ordering only to cancel a day later? Sort your lives out.

(Special dispensation to people who actually have sudden reasons to cancel, like they just got made redundant/death in the family. Changing your mind doesn't count)

Maybe some people are cancelling because they'll take the opportunity to see what AMD will offer. Some people will also feel manipulated or lied to about stock levels, the website was falling over itself and people ordered expecting to receive cards in a reasonable time and at a reduced cost, not... you know... in a month, two months?

They are well within their right to find that unacceptable and ask for their money back rather than have it sit in someone elses bank account for however long, not actually knowing when they'll get what they have already paid for.

How did you cancel? I’m trying to do the same

For me, I've only ordered due to item had pre-order(18/09) otherwise I wouldn't have ordered so I've now cancelled this order. I will try my luck with 3090, if that also fails. I will wait for stock to stabilize and order when I know when the shipments will be. I don't like the idea of "pre-order". Its just doesn't make sense for me. But I understand if someone would want to wait for unknown availability.

My parcel was posted out yesterday but when I hit track dpd I get this message.
"We've received your order details, but have not yet received your parcel"

Same here so I called them up. I was told that the late/night shift didn't get the cards to DPD in time. As mine was being delivered to my work's address I asked for it to be changed to my home address whilst at the same time upgrading to Saturday delivery. I was told I could not upgrade to Saturday delivery for some strange unknown reason, but DPD would probably try to deliver on Saturday which I found difficult to believe. I decided to change my address based on this and person at OCUK promptly told that it had reset the delivery so I wouldn't see it until Monday when I am at work!!!! I was then cut off!

You couldn't make this up. I sent a webnote but have had no reply. I fail to understand why I couldn't have a Saturday delivery at my expense, and this causes me to be suspicious about whether they have got the cards. Maybe Gibbo can enlighten me?

I think what saddens me the most about these cards launch is the greedy self centred bot resellers who are spoiling this whole release for everyone else to line their own pockets.
Literally seconds after the 3080 release time the website and every other website form other sellers went down and the stock was cleared out, only for dozens of cards to then reappear on ebay at vastly inflated prices and with rsellers have p[lenty of cards, not single units to sell, these people sicken me frankly.

I would rather not have a card than feed these greedy self centred pigs who do this and i wish that Overclockers would take telephone orders for single cards only to different adresses - that would be the fair and decent way to deal with things and they would still sell out but it would be done to cater for genuine customers and not these bot who simply exploit us all - or try.
As regards any anti bot measures we all know this is easily overcome and whilst these greedy pigs do nothing illegal by buying all the stock it simply disssapoints me that a more sensible and individual approach to ordering isnt taken, its easily done and should be done that way- over the phone and single orders to single addresses only.

Completely agree
