NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

I'm only addressing comments from users placed in a similar situation due to market circumstances. I think you can read any of my posts and know I'm not rubbing anyone's face in it. It would have been easier to not explain and remain silent. If you think someone is a villain for selling a gpu they own, you’re probably too invested in this... but yes I have no wish to drag it on I've offered my advice to Dave.
You don’t need to explain yourself. Many sensible people would have sold it for that much profit. I know I would.

On the other hand I would never pay £2k extra.

Instead of blaming the seller, why not blame the people that pay these silly prices?

This does not make you untrustworthy or a bad person in any way.

Have you applied the bios patch? Any difference?

Yes, I didn't listen it with the old bios before, so I don't know. The silent bios is just a preset fan curve, which I have replicated with the default bios and a custom profile, although I'm not concrete on this.

How is it for coil whine?

Moderate, a little worse than my 4090 FE. If coil whine is a problem for you, I wouldn't go for the Astral. I hear that ASUS cards are pretty bad for coil whine in general.

Hmm Well I never had coil whine on my 4090 FE. I am not susceptible to coil whine except in very extreme cases and I have only ever returned one card because of it.

In general they are pretty known for it. From my own experience? Well the 3070 rog strix never had any nor the 3070 ti. But the 3090ti liquid cool edition (I had to RMA this due to extreme coil whine) did. From the 4xxx series I had the 4080 and 4090 strix and they all had it. No some members say they changed it afterwards but that doesn't change my experience. So my experience with coil whine and the higher end Asus cards has been poor in that regard. But I am not susceptible to it.

Suprims are another SKU where I found it to bad for coil whine as well. Now they are saying it not present for 5x80 or 5x90 so I can neither confirm or offer any anecedotal evidence to prove otherwise.

It's an odd listing, I'm pretty sure the Pailt GamingPro was £1,249. He's barely going to make a profit and potentially a loss if he doesn't cover his postage fees.
Them's some meager ROI, less if someone returns it. It's also a matter of time, but I guess some people value their time less than others.

@SuperElectric - you seem like someone who will be all over what your options are with your Astral to reduce noise but for what it’s worth (and for anyone else in a similar boat):

- for reducing coil whine, it’s worth playing around with power limits and undervolts - it’s, not a full guide or anything but see my post here.

- for reducing fan noise, download ‘fan control’ which will override your fan GPU BIOS fan curve - ditto, not a full guide but see my post here (this is much better than Afterburner for changing the fan curve IMO because you can mess around with different Afterburner settings, turning it on and off, reinstalls etc. to your heart’s content without ever affecting the GPU fan curves you’re setting in Fan Control).

Also 5080’s in general aren’t flying off the eBay shelves, the initial silly buyers have got their cards… now it’s just the remaining street smart buyers left (who most likely have a pre-ordered card anyway).

From what I'm seeing re 5090's it's mainly odd Palit / MSI Gaming X Trio cards filtering through for now. Fingers crossed in the next month or so we will see a lot more filtering through. I'm still 35th in the Suprim queue.

Any ETA update your end? Nothing on my side (41st in the queue). We’re probably in the same batch!

So why not build 2 lines for 5090s and not bother with 5080s at all? Everyone loves a good conspiracy but this one isn't making a great deal of sense. Far more likely they just have yield issues with the bigger gb202 dies.
Because they went all in on 5080 prior to Chinese new year as for some reason at some point earlier they decided the 5080 would be the big seller.

I don’t know obviously, but it would make sense. The 3080 and 4080 have been good sellers, the 50 series generally has just not been that good.

They probably had to reserve production capacity a long time ago and the 5090 was never going to be huge volume seller.

Or maybe they had yield problems as you say.

I’m pretty sure it was all deliberate, the situation seems to have been known about well in advance.

The other place has been taking a lot of preorders stating May to June

Not exactly the same though, is it? He's actually using his 5090, lowering it's value, yours was on Ebay within an hour "Sealed and brand new". In fact, the auction was created approx 1 hour after you had posted on here that it was "delivered", then pictures were added 3 hours later at 18:19, which was before you posted the pic on here.

In terms of scalper hierarchy, if the card is listed for sale before you've even held it in your hands, that's worse than using it for a bit then selling, just imo.
We have sherlock Holmes over here

The 4080 wasn't a good seller on launch. It took price drops and the super to get it to a okay place really.

As I've said before I think the likely scenario is only the 5080 was meant to be released and 5090 was pushed up be it because of CES, tariffs or whatever else. Nvidia haven't really done both the 80 and 90 releasing the same day so it backs that it might not have been planned initially.

I don't understand how MSI stock is coming through yet it's only one of their cards. Surely they wouldn't just bring in a few Trios, they would also drop Vanguards & Suprims. Is this stock that has just been held back?

A lot of what's come through the 5090 pipeline so far has been fairly "baseline" cards. I note we've seen a few drops of the Palit Gamerock, but there don't appear to be *any* Gamerock OCs in the wild.

Have been hearing another two weeks plus for the Astral 5090 in the other place. At least for a full build, that is. I'd imagine people close to the top of the queue should be seeing movement over the next month

When i cancelled my 5090 Astral was told roughly a few weeks to a month was the expected date of me getting it and that was at #115 in the queue. Past few days I've seem people mentioning and posting up pics that they have received or getting Astral cards shortly so stock is moving for sure and I expect the time frame I was given to be fairly accurate on that basis
