Nvidia to support Freesync?

By the looks of it @humbug hasn't linked his monitor.

He linked Q3279VWFD8 32", His control panel says its a Q3279WG5B

???

However i will assume its the correct one thats been linked and what the difference is possibly a region specific product code as we have seen in the past several times.

I think i recall NV saying that they would open the driver up to all freesync monitors, but that they will officially certify X small number of them as Gsync as only they pass their standard. This does mean that all freesync screens should be able to turn on gsync, however they won't all respond well to it... That is my understanding of it however and i could be mistaken.

I would love to see one of these more low/mid budget oriented gaming freesync screens running gsync in person ( @humbug i do have you address after all.... he he ) to see/compare it personally to a gsync screen such as mine that has nvidias physical gsync module in it.

Its literally the screen that i bought, the model number on the bessel of the panel reads Q3279VWFD8.

There are two revisions of this panel, one is an LCD and the newer one, mine is IPS, when i google Q3279WG5B i get this https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-q3279vwf/ that is the older LCD.

I think the internal model that the driver is reading is perhaps what it says, AOC perhaps didn't change it but mine is IPS and has Q3279VWFD8 printed on it externally.

Whatever.... it appears to work, i'm going to test it in games now.

What is it’s freesync range?

I do wonder...what would this mean for gaming laptop display that didn't Freesync or Gsync to beginning?

Wasn't adaptive sync originated laptop, so doesn't that mean we can get Freesync running laptop too or not?

I don't think it is. Have read for yourself and let us know.

What's the 50" version?

It's actually 49" , the daft wide one shown here https://www.overclockers.co.uk/sams...-hdr-widescreen-curved-monitor-mo-234-sa.html It was released with the other two though tbf it's actually a different model no entirely .

I see what you mean regards the review, I have the 32" and at 30% I don't have flickering . But I believe the review was done prior to the firmware update that was released so could have been fixed in that .

Have to agree with him, and RIP FreeSync on PC, as all monitors will now be saying either, adaptive-sync, or GSync Compatible, FreeSync branding will be no more, which makes sense when you think about it.

Tried it with my XL2730Z and when I go to run pendulum demo the screen blacks out, strange as it has worked for others. Any suggestions?

Turns out is doesn't work at all, the first time i tested it was before i rebooted, i still had Fast Sync enabled, after coming back and booting it up again it turned Fast Sync off and no... its not working.

I don't get it, it says "G-Sync Compatible" in the CP and yet it clearly isn't.

I get you now. Well hopefully Samsung may release some updates with this development. :)

How is he saying Overwatch is smoother when it's outside the G-sync range?

That's over 200 fps on the Dell that is only 144Hz.

Acer XF270HU here. Seems to be working well. Tried pendulum demo and had a blast of Doom. In the past there have been reports of overdrive problems on this panel with freesync enabled - maybe I'm going blind in my old age, but I'm not seeing it.

So a 27 inch 1440p IPS 144hz with adaptive sync on both AMD and Nvidia cards. I think I paid less than €400 for this. Amazing value!

It will take a fight as AMD have the console market and a lot of TV's now have got Freesync in the specs ect . I feel AMD need to start pushing regards they have been used in the console market for a good number of years

My CF971 looked like it was going to be a winner, and on 'Standard' 80-100 range it seemed fine, but on 'Ultimate' 48-100 range I get flickering under 60fps.

Honestly never been disappointed with my display as it is. This would have been nice to have, but not upset about missing out on something I never thought about having. Next monitor (whenever that may be) I may consider this when choosing, but by then it could be a completely different technology.

Finally got the gsync indicator to pop up while playing so apparently its working, thing is I seem to get tears with it on, when I put vsync on(in the game) with the gsync its smooth as butter but your supposed to run gsync without vsync are you not?

The guys an idiot, Free-Sync is AMD equivalent G-Sync branding, its not upto the screen vendors, if they support AMD's Adaptive Sync tech they are required to add the Free-Sync branding to the screen.

Actually seems this is normal with my monitor even with AMD cards...

Quoted from PC Monitors:
We tested a range of game titles including; Battlefield 1 (BF1), Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), Star Wars Battlefront (SWBF), Hitman, Mass Effect Andromeda and various indie titles using FreeSync. For the most part the technology worked as we would expect on these titles, but we did observe some flickering at certain frame rates. On these titles the screen would flicker like crazy between 45 – 53fps in-game (45 – 53Hz), but was fine either above or below this level.
