By the looks of it @humbug hasn't linked his monitor.
He linked Q3279VWFD8 32", His control panel says its a Q3279WG5B
???
However i will assume its the correct one thats been linked and what the difference is possibly a region specific product code as we have seen in the past several times.
I think i recall NV saying that they would open the driver up to all freesync monitors, but that they will officially certify X small number of them as Gsync as only they pass their standard. This does mean that all freesync screens should be able to turn on gsync, however they won't all respond well to it... That is my understanding of it however and i could be mistaken.
I would love to see one of these more low/mid budget oriented gaming freesync screens running gsync in person ( @humbug i do have you address after all.... he he ) to see/compare it personally to a gsync screen such as mine that has nvidias physical gsync module in it.
Its literally the screen that i bought, the model number on the bessel of the panel reads Q3279VWFD8.
There are two revisions of this panel, one is an LCD and the newer one, mine is IPS, when i google Q3279WG5B i get this https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-q3279vwf/ that is the older LCD.
I think the internal model that the driver is reading is perhaps what it says, AOC perhaps didn't change it but mine is IPS and has Q3279VWFD8 printed on it externally.
Whatever.... it appears to work, i'm going to test it in games now.
