Nvidia Updates GeForce Experience - Accounts and Passwords Now Mandatory

Even if it is only four times per year i will install the default driver exe until i die. Not only this but when you do click custom install and shun as much of the tickboxes as you can. I currently shun the HDMI bits and something else i cant remember maybe Physx cant remember but i used that for Batman.

Gefarce Bloatware Experience.

People are happy to have to sign into just about every other website or program on the planet if you want to use there services, ie: OCUK forums or shop, facebook, twitter, clearscore, steam, origin, Skype etc etc etc and yet NVIDIA ask you to do it even though they let everybody know ages ago that this was coming and the forums go through the roof. How dare evil NVIDIA stoop to such depths .

Some people need to get over themselves and get off of the NVIDIA hate train.

I try to sign into as few sites, etc. as possible unless I actually need to i.e. online shopping - something like a driver component isn't something I need to sign into especially as my only use is shadowplay so its an unnecessary extra step. Also seen a few murmurs from IRC that there is a major security issue with the web service in GfE 3.0 but dunno details or if its just chatter.

So you want to use there services (shadowplay) but don't want to sign in, funny that I wan to use steam!, but why do I need to sign in first. I mean I've already payed them for the games, so why do I have to sign In......;)

Those aren't even remotely equivalent.

There's a huge difference between signing into a website and signing into a program that's constantly running on your local machine with full administrative access. The idea that the two can be compared is utterly laughable. Equally, I only offer any kind of data on me to companies that I trust. OcUK happens to be a company that I trust. Valve happens to be a company that I trust too. Nvidia though? I'd want a second opinion if they told me that the sun would rise tomorrow morning. And for the same reason I don't have a Facebook account, or a Twitter account, or a Microsoft account, or a Google account.

As for people getting over theirself, some might say that throwing a bit of a wobbly because people expressed a different opinion and criticised their favourite company might be a sign of a need for that.

Was predictable to see the thread include over-reactions and tin foil hats.
Companies have more interest in the data from the masses rather than you identifiable as an individual - you are really not that interesting :D. It can be useful to us too.

I like my privacy but will sign up no problem.

At least Nvidia should never get hacked and all our passwords become known because their deep learning capability will ensure they are one step ahead of the hackers ? :D

For many it isn't really about what companies do or don't have an interest in - few people like the feeling that someone might be watching over their shoulder judging their every move real or imagined.

Personally i just hate getting called 3 times a day asking about the accident i never had or my ppi claim which i also have never had.

But why? It's psychological. Nobody is sat there watching their every move :D. It's just data. A company can easily extract stats such as at 9pm x number of people were playing y game using machine specs z. A certain number of people experienced slow performance or crashes, etc. Nobody is sat there saying "oh look, Darren is playing Farcry 4 now gone for a cuppa" - this level of personal detail is not interesting IMO.

Strangely I have no problem with this stuff but don't like the idea of google glass type gadgets where one could record other people and stick it up on facebook or somewhere, because it's being made public.

Such large data gained on us all can also help protect us too, such as from terrorism (phone conversations, emails, etc). I'm happy for my phone conversations to be all recorded because unless there's good reason to look closely at me (legal reasons), nobody is really interested in me as an individual. Should I call someone under surveillance and talk about bad sh** then sure someone would take an interest in it and my data as an individual

And yet you're willing to spend hundreds on their graphics cards.
