What about starting suggestions on how Spie/shop/business can protect themselves better to avoid any further attacks.
No I haven't read untold pages so forgive me if you have.

Can the site be hosted on Multiple servers ? Can security be increased even if it means paying more ?

I think what ***** me off most is the Invicible way they are attacking Mark which effects the shop which effects the OcUK staff who are just doing a job like the rest of us.
Personally I have always disrespected people who haven't the Kahoonas to stand up & have a set to Mano v Mano. If I had a Problem with Mark I'd go to the Oc shop/car park & tell the bloke not hide behind a kin screen.
On top of that to effect normal working Joes & threaten there lively hood is about as Low as you can go.
Nobody would have to pay me 10k to sort this little **** ant out

Bigredshark mentioned that he has dealt with some equipment that deal realy well with DDoS attacks, but it is my understandard that this sort of equipment is well beyond the price range of OcUK, and is more of something the data center itself would have to purchase and use to protect all its customers.

Without knowing the infrastructure I'd say it already was (it would be stupid if it wasn't) though adding more and more servers is not going to stop a DOS.

There is no accounting how petty some people will be, cleary someone is holding a grudge against OcUK. It is entirely possible that someone on these forums knows who is behind it but I feel it is unlikely that anyone will come forward as it is a Police matter and few people will want to get involved despite the reward as this tends to be our culture. I'm familiar with this type of attack and it can be mitigated but as with everything there is a cost involved, tracing the attacker from logs is likely to be a pointless excercise as it is all too easy to do this completely anonymously and aquiring a new botnet is hardly challenging for those who involve themselves in these practices.

Despite the gloomy picture I've painted I do hope Spie and OcUK get the person(s) involved by whatever means, these keyboard cowards need to learn a hard lesson about threatening or harming real peoples livelehoods.

If you need someone to kick them in the nuts, I'm available :D

Edit: OcUK mugs are the future!

That's a rather big assumption

I dont think hes far off with that, certainly no rollyeyes needed.

It going to be a person who has had trouble with a purchase, an ex forum user that has been banned or maybe even a competitor that has started to struggle with the (hate to use this word) "credit crunch".

Good luck in finding them Mark but i have a feeling its not easy at all hence the reward!

Good to see a stand being made. Those suggesting that the shop should just ignore the situation and "move on" are really justifying and encouraging the criminal activity. The shop has a right to defend itself and those responsible for the act should be prosecuted.
