OcUK Minecraft Server - Rules & Chat

Those Enderman are seriously creepy. When I first started playing I found Creepers terrifying with their angry faces... looks like I'm gonna need new underwear again when these are added :D

Im trying the free trial atm and enjoyed the daytime part ...

Then night time came and all seemed fine in my little hidey hole, but the monster sounds were seriously creepy.

Then when I got out on the next day, I was attacked by loads of spiders and some green thing that made a huge kabloom!

I hated it, gonna start a new game on peaceful.

Why not join in the multiplayer and ask a player to give you a tour? :)

I cant be bothered to register and I prefer single player

MrMoose on here felt the same, he's loving multiplayer though. Strongly suggest you give it a shot bhavv - you're only playing half the game without it. There's no competition, it's all about having fun together and learning from each others builds :)

The game keeps on getting out of memory crashes with 24 Gb

I googled and think I need to install 64 bit Java runtime.

SP will get dull fast, its like playing a MMO on your own. On an x64 system always use 64bit java as you can specify a larger java heap allocation for bigger, fatter texture packs should you use them.

I do play MMOs on my own and enjoy them, they just have a chat box included :)

MMOs that force players to group I abandon playing very fast. They are always based around having to do what other people want, play the way other people want, requiring to have certain rare equipment to get into groups for content that drops the equipment you need, and when stuff that you need drops, it gets rolled for and looted by someone else.

The only MMOs I like are soloable ones and FTP, mainly just Guild Wars.

I got 64 bit Java installed, now where can I find some much better textures to use please?

I made a change to my spawner today to have a massive pit along its width, with a network of channels moving drops from the bottom to the collection point. I set up a lava blade how it was before I made any changes along the length of the pit and the mobs were just spazzing out when they got to it.

I've spent 5 hours changing things... moved the lava back twice and the water forward, moved fences, ladders etc. all while the spawner was still functioning (never learn my lesson :p) and they're still just spazzing out when they get to it.

Here's a screenie, anyone know what's going on? They go up into the lava but kinda bounce up and down, not really getting hurt

I had the ladders 2 high and the fences extended 1 towards the ladders which didn't work either

It's not that the game "forces" you to play multiplayer but that it's fun to share your builds with other people. Playing an MMO in single player isn't exactly comparable - I would say that most of the time, playing multiplayer MC is the same as an MMO played as a "single player game". You might be doing things by yourself but the world is more alive as there are other people interacting with it (but with respect to your builds, as per the server rules). Up to you, though :)
