In other news, I've just tested 1.5 and it seems okay. I'm going to initiate upgrade shortly.

The nether worked when I tested it. Perhaps it's a permissions thing.

Sorted out the spawn, sorry for any inconvenience

Hopefully the spawn area will not look as bare as it did when I removed the portal. I put all the portal stuff in a chest to be given to whoever worked on it.

Started it when there was only about 5 people online, then 10mins in the server got updated and there was loads!

Going to make an Inn by the spawn where we can put all the starting equipment and portal. Can I suggest that we tidy up the 'noticeboard' by the spawn? Looks a little messy

Cool stuff /re spawn

We may need to add back in a nether gate at some point but it doesn't need to go in the exact spot it was in before. The nether gate off to the site of spawn was just a temporary test one I built btw - though if people want to use that as the main one, that's fine by me. I know several people have already dug out a lot of the area inside the nether there.

I plan to make a room in the Inn for the portal, will only have to move the existing one a few blocks so should have a minimal effect on the Nether. I put a path round to the existing one while the Inn is being built.

I'm looking for a friendly server to join, but if you have all these members and only 24 slots does that mean there is only a small chance of logging onto the server?
